Day 5, Rhodes: In the heart of the port city of Rhodes is the largest inhabited medieval town in Europe, a web of Byzantine, Turkish and Latin ruins. Visit Rhodes’ most picturesque town, Lindos, where whitewashed houses are clustered beneath a soaring castle-capped acropolis dedicated to the goddess Athena.
Day 6, Crete, Santorini: Arrive at and explore the island’s bustling capital, Heraklion; optional excursion to see the nearby ruins of the Palace of Knossos. Continue sailing to Santorini, a volcanic crater immersed in the sea and perhaps the most breathtaking of all the Greek Islands. In the town of Fira, whitewashed houses, narrow streets, outdoor cafes and glittering boutiques line the steep cliffs, accessible by foot, cable car or mule. Tour Oia village.
Days 7-11, Athens & Mainland Greece: The remaining part of the tour visits sites on mainland Greece away from the Aegean: Athens, Delphi, Olympia and Mycenae among them.
