Classic Georgia Itineraries

Highlights of Georgia - 7-10 Days Itinerary

Day 1-2, Tbilisi: Experience Tbilisi, Georgia’s capital and largest city. Explore the city’s main artery, Rustaveli, lined with museums, churches, restaurants, government buildings, and shops. Wander the cobblestone streets of the Old Town, ride the aerial tramway to Nariqala Fortress which overlooks the city, and relax at one of the many bathhouses, known for their Sulphur baths. Spend the following day exploring the ancient cave monastery of Davit Gareja and hike along the Georgia-Azerbaijan border. 

Day 3, Kakheti: Drive to Georgia’s famous wine region – Kakheti. Spend the day wine tasting and then visit the town of Sighnaghi, known for its expansive views of the Alazani Valley and the Caucasus region. 

Day 4, Stepantsminda: Explore northern Georgia by driving to the town of Stepantsminda and hike to the famed Tsminda Sameba Church perched high above a 2,200 meter mountain. At the top, enjoy breathtaking views of the Caucasus Mountains. 

Day 5, Gori: Head to Stalin’s hometown of Gori, and explore the museum that’s dedicated to his storied life. After the museum, explore the nearby ancient cave city of Uplistsikhe. Crawl through the many caves and learn how this ancient community once lived. 

Day 6, Kutaisi: Head west to the historic city of Kutaisi and visit the Bagrati Cathedral, Historical Museum, and main market. 

Day 7, Svaneti: Adventure through Svaneti and admire the mountain scenery that has made this region famous. In the surrounding area, study ancient frescoes and explore quaint towns while spending time in the mountains.
