Northern Mediterranean Itinerary 

Want to see the cities and regions of some of the Mediterranean’s most powerful empires, then check out this tour of the northern regions of the sea. 

Day 1, Travel: Fly overnight to Athens, Greece to begin your cruise. 

Day 2, Cruise: Make your way through Athens to the ancient port of Piraeus to begin your journey. 

Day 3, Sailing the Peloponnese: Enjoy a day of sailing around the Peloponnese on your sailboat as you learn about the history of this region from a local historian. 

Day 4, Katakolo and Olympia: Dock at Katakolo and make your way the birthplace of the Olympics at the ancient site of Olympia that includes the stadium and temple that housed the iconic statue of Zeus. 

Day 5, Ithaca: Make landfall and drive around the famous island home of Odysseus that Homer detailed in his epic the Odyssey. 

Day 6, Sarande and Butrint, Albania: Sail over to Albania to visit the ancient site of Butrnit with its Byzantine towers and Venetian churches before driving up to Sarande’s Lekuris Castle. 

Day 7, Kruje: Take a step back into Albania’s history by visiting the medieval capital of Kruje and the museum dedicated to Albania’s hero Skanderbeg. 

Day 8, Kotor, Montenegro: Visit this Venetian outpost by sailing out to the islet of Church of Our Lady of the Rock and walking through the old town below the towering walls of the fjord. 

Day 9, Dubrovnik, Croatia: Stroll through one of the gems of the Mediterranean with its monstrous walls and romantic side streets before enjoying a private performance of a Croatian dance. 

Day 10, Korcula: Sail to the island of Korcula where it is believed Marco Polo was born and enjoy a walking tour of the old town and another private performance. 

Day 11, Hvar: Head over to Hvar which is home to one of Croatia’s most stunning old towns and a tour of a Franciscan monastery. 

Day 12, Depart: Sail back to Dubrovnik to fly home or further extend your trip to see more of Croatia.

Western Mediterranean Tour

Day 6, Granada, Spain: Head out on a guided tour of the Alhambra, a Moorish palace steeped in grandeur and views of the city. 

Day 7, Malaga, Spain: Have an amazing time in this Andalucia city where sherry and dancing horses thrive and learn about the birthplace of the cubist painter Pablo Picasso. 

Day 8, Gibraltar: Visit this storied British-inspired town and landmark that has played a role in both Greek mythology and the Phoenician empire. 

Day 9, Seville: Spain’s flamenco capital won’t disappoint with sites ranging from a cathedral believed to hold the body of Christopher Columbus to the palace Alcazar. End the night with a special flamenco dance. 

Day 10, Day at Sea: Relax with another day at sea to recharge before visiting the coloful country of Portugal. 

Day 11, Sintra and Cascais: Visit the Sintra National Palace that housed the Portugese royal family and drive through the seaside village of Cascais. 

Day 12, Lisbon: Hit all of the Lisbon landmarks like the area of Baixa, Belem Tower, Trade Square, and more before a farewell dinner. 

Day 13, Depart: Get out and see more of Lisbon before your flight home.

Holy Land Pilgrimage 

Where three of the world’s largest religions meet, Israel and the Holy Land is one of the top religious destinations for travelers. Enjoy an itinerary that stops at many of the historic locations mentioned in the Bible. 

Day 1, Tel Aviv: Arrive in Tel Aviv, Israel’s metropolitan capital. 

Day 2, Valley of Elah-Latrun-Jaffa: Drive through this historic valley where David conquered Goliath and story of Samson and Delilah took place. End your drive in the restored village of Jaffa.

Day 6, Jerusalem: Take a day trip from Jerusalem to the Dead Sea and a cable car to the fortress of Masada where over 900 Jewish rebels made their stand against the Roman Empire. 

Day 7, Jerusalem: Visit the Holocaust Museum in Jerusalem and visit Bethlehem, and the Church of the Nativity. 

Day 8, Jerusalem: Spend the day exploring the city’s old town and stop at sites like the Mount of Olives, the Garden of Gethsemane, the Western Wall, and Mount Zion where Jesus had the Last Supper. 

Day 9, Jerusalem: Morning goodbye breakfast before your flight home.

Mediterranean Sea Adventure on a Budget Itinerary

Visiting the Mediterranean doesn’t have to be expensive. Check out this itinerary that takes you through multiple countries on the Med while also keeping your bank account and adventurous spirit in mind. 

Day 1, Rome: Arrive in Rome either a couple of days before to see more of the sites or the first day of your tour.
