Yangtze River Cruise in 7-10 Days
Cruising down the Yangtze you will come in touch with ancient history, unique and beautiful landscapes, and the incredible mountain life of China.
Day 1, Chongqing: Begin in Chongqing, where many Yangtze River cruises embark. Known as the “mountain city”, Chongqing is a large city, but just a bit outside it becomes mountainous and beautiful. You’ll soon be among classic Chinese landscapes as you begin your Yangtze cruise.
Day 2, Shibaozhai: Disembark here for an excursion to see the impressive wooden pagoda, named the “Pearl of the Yangtze.”
Day 3-5, Three Gorges region: As you leave the Chongqing area you will enter the incredible Three Gorges, a stunning natural landscape of epic proportions. Enjoy the still beauty and marvel at the dramatic scenery. Shore excursions may include the ancient White Emperor City which overlooks Qutang Gorge. Learn about local life in this region with a shore excursion to Xiling Gorge, and pass through impressive dams and locks.
Day 5, Wuhan: Take a long shore excursion to see the sights in this city. Yellow Crane Tower and the Hubei Provincial Museum are two of the top attractions.
Day 6, Jiuhuashan: Enjoy the calming atmosphere of the mountains at Jiuhuashan, known as the “Mountain of the Nine Lotuses”. You’ll explore ancient temples nestled among peaceful mountain paths.
Day 7, Nanjing: Known for it’s bazaar, spend some time shopping for souvenirs before heading on to Shanghai where you will end your journey. See the Zhonghua Gate (“Gate of China”), and a Ming Dynasty era tomb as well as many other wonderful landmarks.
Day 9-10, Shanghai: Arrive in Shanghai at the end of your journey. Spend a day sightseeing at the Yu Garden, and buying souvenirs at the Old Town market. Shanghai is also known for it’s food scene, so enjoy some tasty treats before you head home!
