I recently returned from the Costa Rican wildlife safari. I was a bit concerned with Covid however every place was extremely clean and had places for you to wash your hands before you even walked in. This was a trip I was actually supposed to go on in 2020 however it was postponed, waiting so long the expectations were high. I was definitely not disappointed! Patricia our guide was absolutely wonderful, extremely knowledgeable and cater to our every need. I would highly recommend this vacation.  Also everyone that I met in the community was extremely gracious and kind. The majority of these people work on tourism and unfortunately in the last year have not had any. Booking this trip would not only be an amazing adventure for you but it would also be amazing for the people in the community

A Taste of Cuba

I'm really pleased I got to see Cuba before it changes too much. While you 
can see the commercialism is starting to creep in, it still feels like it has 
been stuck in a time warp.

It is an interesting place, though I have to say that for me Havana was by 
far my favourite. It is worth seeing it before it changes too much, but you 
can also see some incredible buildings that are ripe for development.
We had some free time on the last day and hired an old American car to drive 
us round Havana - it was a fantastic way to see this amazing city and well 
worth the time and money.


Our group leader was great - incredibly knowledgable and his English language 
skills were great. He gave us a very good overview of the country and what is 
has been/is like to live there. He was keen to show us not just the more 
obvious places, but also for example a local ration shop.


Staying in the Casa Particulares was interesting but a basic knowledge of 
Spanish would be helpful - even if just to introduce yourself to your host. 
Some speak no English whatsoever.

The casas are very variable and while all have en-suite bathrooms, the 
plumbing was in some cases rather interesting (!)  and it wasn't always easy 
to get sufficient water to wash your hair or shower properly.

There is alot of bus travel so take a book or music on the bus with you to 
pass the time.


While the stays in Casa Particulares were interesting, be aware that despite 
Exodus' policy of putting those travelling on their own in a house together, 
we often found at least one of the group was staying somewhere on their own. 
While that in itself is not a problem, when you don't speak the language, it 
would have been better to put together travelling as couple on their own and 
singles together.

A great insight into a rapidly changing country

The first leg of the journey we missed our flight to Houston due to weather but your company sent us a driver to San Jose to pick us up and deliver us to La Fortuna which happened to several other families so we caught.Several of the children and a couple of adults got "van sick" and maybe it would be important to let people know if they get slightly car sick to bring along Dramamine for motion sickness. The mountains were awesome but winding up and down was too much for some. But overall we enjoyed everything about the trip and will recommend a family vacation in beautiful Costa Rica !!!!!!

Costa Rica Family Experience

Great family experience in a great country

It was great. The accommodation in San Jose and Monteverde - terrible !! The breakfasts in all hotels (except San Bada - horrible) - no way to start your day!! Given the food was SO expensive - the only "free" meal being breakfast was horrid and couldn't eat it - so that was not good. Better accommodations would make the trip much better. Better included activities would make it better as well.
