Editoral Review of Mountain Lodges of Peru
For more than a decade, Mountain Lodges of Peru have provided in depth cultural experiences for visitors to Peru’s most famous site: Machu Picchu.
What Makes Them Stand Out?
They focus solely on bringing travelers to Machu Picchu, on two major treks: Salkantay or the Lares. Truly integrating the local communities of Peru into their missions and activities, they are the perfect choice for supporting local operations and learning about the history and culture of the area from a local perspective.
Who Travels With Them?
A trek to Machu Picchu, especially along these two trails, is not for the faint of heart. Treks are between 4 and 7 days, and the altitude can be very challenging for some. But don’t despair! Average builds and physical fitness levels travel to Machu Picchu regularly, and your guides are well trained to help you on your way.
Where Do They Operate?
As their name suggests, Mountain Lodges of Peru is a Peru based operator, specializing in the countries regions. They operate tours to and from Machu Picchu along two major treks.
Why Travel With Them?
For an integrated travel experience where your experience will introduce you to the indigenous cultures of Peru on a deeper level.

About the company
At Mountain Lodges of Peru, our goal is to provide our guests with all the service, comfort and safety they need to be able to freely explore and enjoy nature, culture, history and like-minded souls freely.
We are specialist in the mountains. For more than 10 years we have had the priviledge to host guests at our mountain lodges with top quality service. Our philosophy is three fold: cultural authenticity and access, remoteness in comfort and style, and exceed expectations.
At Mountain Lodges of Peru, we take great pride in our people. As part of our vision for development, we have taken on the commitment to facilitate the inclusion of local natives in our day-day operations. At the lodges, there is a constant living exchange between young industry professionals and lively local natives who are willing to share their customs and learn how to be industry professionals. This way, we have created a team of people who constantly seek development, who take pride in hosting guests with outstanding service and who will go out of their way to make you feel comfortably at home.
Although Mountain Lodges of Peru has historically had an active yet private role in the socioeconomic development of the communities to which we neighbor, in 2006 MLP sponsored the creation of an NGO named Yanapana Peru. Yanapana Peru has set two important goals for its first stage of development:
1) to elevate the level of education for more than 150 families in the area;
2) to give an incentive to the local population to take an active role in the development of tourism in the area.
