What's this trip about?

THIS SAFARI CAPTURES THE VERY BEST OF KENYA AND TANZANIA  and the most likely route for observing the Great Migration of millions of wildebeest and zebra across the great plains of East Africa. Marvel at the snow-capped Mt. Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, the highest free-standing extinct volcano in the world, originally in Kenya but given to the Kaiser by Queen Victoria as she already had Mt. Kenya! Witness the contrasts between the arid Samburu in the north of Kenya, with its endemic wildlife different to that in the south, and the lush pastures of the Ngorongoro Crater in Tanzania, the world's largest caldera, with its full kaleidoscope of African wildlife happily living in the bowl of the crater.

Day 1 : Arrive Nairobi, Kenya

Jambo na Karibu! With a warm Swahili welcome upon your arrival, you'll be transferred to your boutique hotel on the outskirts of Nairobi. Spend the rest of your day as you please.

Day 2 : Nairobi / Amboseli National Park

Your safari takes off with a flight to Amboseli National Park. Upon checking into your well-appointed tented camp, meet your expert ranger for an afternoon game drive. Capture panoramic photos of some of Africa's largest elephants as they amble through the grasslands ...

Day 3 : Amboseli National Park

Rise with dawn's early light for your game drive - you may catch up with the big cats, sated after their night hunt. Watch for wildebeest, zebra, impala and warthogs and see how many of the 300 species of birds you can spot. Tonight, unwind and be mesmerized by the dazzling blanket of stars.

Day 4 : Amboseli / Shaba National Reserve

Fly north to Shaba National Reserve, an area of blue and purple landscapes with a beauty all of its own. Home of the authoress Joy Adamson, the reserve has a special place in Kenyan history. Arrive at your camp in time for lunch and an afternoon game drive in search of the Special Five, the Grevy zebra, reticulated giraffe, the Somali ostrich, gerenuk and the beisa oryx.

Day 5 : Shaba National Reserve

Start the day with an early morning game drive in the quiet serene wilderness. Perhaps you'll come upon a cheetah snuggling with her cubs or a herd of gerenuk browsing in the foliage. Before your afternoon game drive, laze poolside and take in the views of wildlife lingering nearby.

Day 6 : Shaba National Reserve / Arusha, Tanzania

Cross the border with a flight to Arusha, where you’ll be met on arrival. Continue on to your lodge, a peaceful retreat tucked within a large coffee plantation. Relax as you please.

Day 7 : Arusha / Ngorongoro Crater

Explore magical Lake Manyara, with seasonal pink-hued flamingos lining its shore and some 400 species of birds. Your ranger will diligently seek out the park’s fabled tree-climbing Manyara lions and blue monkeys to round out your photo gallery. Continue on to your beautiful lodge near the Ngorongoro Crater.

Day 8 : Ngorongoro Crater

Descend some 2,000 feet to explore Ngorongoro's sprawling crater floor. Designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site, this unique biosphere has remained virtually unchanged since the dawn of time. The crater is home to numerous herds of elephants, large prides of lions, le...

Day 9 : Ngorongoro Crater / Serengeti National Park

Day 10 : Serengeti National Park

Depart during the early splendor of an African sunrise for your first game drive of the day. Collect a gallery of striking images as the morning unfolds: a lioness relaxing after her morning hunt, alert elephants guarding their young and ungainly herds of wildebeest grazing alongside zebras and gazelles. Relax at camp while the day cools down before setting out for your afternoon game drive.

Day 11 : Serengeti National Park

During morning and afternoon game viewing activities, your ranger continues to lead you to spectacular locations of outstanding natural beauty where you can observe the wildlife at your leisure. Back at camp with the animals roaming around at night, your immersion in this kaleidoscope of wildlife is like living a dream for even the most experienced of travelers.

Day 12 : Serengeti National Park / Depart

After a short flight to Arusha, you'll enjoy lunch and a place to relax at a reserved hotel day room until transferring to the airport for your onward arrangements.
