I think we lucked out having a great group of co-travelers. I think 10 people was the right amount to get to know one another but not be too overwhelming / cliquish....

One leader for 17 people is excessive. You really need 2 to manage 17 in a group. Especially when you have people of all levels to manage. I felt the last 2 days wer...

Really enjoyed this trip. Been wanting to do the Camino for ages. It’s not the best itinerary for a walking trip but that’s largely missing the point. It’s great ...

It was a very nice experience but I think that the 2 days before the last day of walking, when we walked for 28 kilometres were a bit too much. Otherwise, everything...

Editor’s Take
Most trip reviews tend to focus on some or all of these 5 key areas, not all of which may be relevant to you: the tour guide, travel company, service level, country or countries traveled in, and the trip itinerary.
Remember, just because you see a 1 star review doesn’t necessarily mean that person disliked the country.
Perhaps one of the best-reviewed destinations out there, Chile is ranked highly for its dramatic scenery, welcoming hospitality and varied landscape. From the world’s driest desert to the penguins waddling around in southernmost Patagonia, from the verdant vineyards of the Central Valley to glaciers and volcanoes, travelers of practically every age and adventure level fell quickly in love with Chile.
For those with mobility issues, this is a particularly well-reviewed destination. Many tour companies willingly provide necessary equipment, whether walkers, scooters or similar, so that travelers can enjoy areas that required walking just as easily as others in their group.
Small group travel is highly encouraged, as it provides a more in-depth immersion. Guides have more flexibility when it comes to dining reservations, home visits, stops in local shops or art galleries and transportation around cities or into the country.
For those focusing on trekking, pay special attention to the services that your Chile tour company will provide, including transportation to departure point for your hike, pick-up at the end, backpacking equipment, entrance and campsite fees, meals, etc. Those with the best reviews handled and delivered all logistics of the bigger treks (the “W” and “O” circuits, for example) seamlessly, allowing hikers to fully engage with the destination and not have to worry about the details.
