Highlights

This exhilarating trip through the high altitude mountain region of Ladakh, India, takes you over passes, into remote valleys, alongside glacier–fed rivers, across sand dunes, and through Tibetan villages. This is a Himalayan Odyssey not to be missed! After arriving on a flight from New Delhi to Leh, we begin the adventure with a 3-day acclimatization loop, gradually adjusting ourselves to the high altitude conditions. We gently cycle along the valley floors in search of vestiges of the ancient Ladakhi Kingdom scattered around the expansive landscape surrounding Leh. Monasteries here are dramatically perched on top of cliffs and etched into the hillside, reflecting the ancient and rich Tibetan Buddhist cultural background of the region. Once acclimated we will depart Leh and burst up the Warila Pass before cycling through the beautiful Sakti and Nubra Valleys. You will be looking down spectacular gorges and up to snow-capped peaks while getting a true window into life deep in the Himalayas. Traversing the vast and expansive high altitude desert terrain of the Nubra Valley - skirting along rivers and cruising through villages - you will also discover a world of sand dunes, Bactrian camels and star filled nights. The tour ends on the highest note possible: a cycle up (and of course down) the highest motorable road in the world.Join us and experience the Indian Himalayas by bicycle in a truly unforgettable way.

Highlights

Rajasthan is a beguiling land of hilltop forts, lavish palaces and colorful cities that hark back to a time when royal families ruled over western India’s princely states. From the “Pink City” of Jaipur to the “City of Lakes”, Uddaipur, this cycling tour traverses Rajasthan's arid yet culturally vibrant rural hinterland as we hop from one resplendent heritage site to the next. Throughout the journey we stay in some beautiful heritage hotels occupying the refurbished buildings of centuries’ old palaces, residences and forts. Meeting in the state capital of Jaipur, we embark on a fantastic route through the vast countryside that sprawls along the fringes of the Thar desert. We share the roads with camel-carts and herds of cattle as we wind through countless villages and stop to visit steadfast Rajput and Mughal forts as well as intricate Hindu and Jain temples. Once we reach Jodhpur, the “Blue City”, we give our bikes a rest to marvel at the sight of its azure-hued skyline from the top of the colossal Mehrangarh Fort. We then head for the hills, climbing into the Aravalli range where we’ll spend two days surrounded by nature and exploring Kumbhalgarh Fort, with its labyrinth walls that meander along the mountain ridges. The cycling concludes with a descent towards Udaipur where we’ll crown our adventure with an exploration of scenic city lakes and ornate palaces. The tour ends in Udaipur. Rajasthan has attracted travelers for centuries, but by bike you will not only get to see the vestiges of its regal past but also experience local life up close. Join us in immersing ourselves in this rich culture!

Highlights

Taiwan is a cycling paradise. Between coast-hugging highways that offer breathtaking vistas of the Pacific Ocean, undulating country roads dissecting lush valleys, and extreme ascents/thrilling descents winding around majestic mountain ranges, Taiwan has something for riders at all levels. If you are looking for casual riding combined with a diverse and immersive experience on this fascinating island nation, then SpiceRoads invites you to experience our brand new “Taiwan Explorer by Bike”. This tour has been specifically designed to strike the perfect balance between leisurely riding along scenic roads and intimately exploring the landscapes, cultures, and cuisines that span the south and east coasts of Taiwan. The journey begins in the city of Kaohsiung, where we will zip down the so-called “tail of Taiwan” to reach the scenic coastline and white sand beaches of Kenting. We then traverse across the southern mountains and through Indigenous villages before rolling down to the east coast to be greeted by sweeping views over the Pacific Ocean. The next couple of days will be filled with epic stretches along the coast, stopping in maritime towns and villages steeped in history, filling our bellies with local delicacies, exploring forested areas, and lounging in hot springs! Once we reach the town of Chenggong, we’ll trade the blue ocean vistas for visuals of emerald green as we enter the Rift Valley, a simply stunning area of meandering rivers, rice paddies, quiet country roads and quaint local villages. The Rift Valley will be our cycling playground for the final days of riding before we cap off the adventure with an off-saddle exploration of Taroko Gorge, the world’s deepest marble gorge and probably Taiwan’s most impressive geological formation. This is the perfect way to end our adventure on a truly high note (literally!) before we say our goodbyes the following morning and you head up to Taipei by train. This tour is sure to leave you with lasting impressions of Taiwan, still an underappreciated and much less visited destination compared with other East Asian countries! Let us show you what makes this cycling paradise such a gem to explore.
