Mountain Biking the Gobi

Arrive in Ulaanbaatar. Enjoy some sightseeing in the capital of the land of Ghenghis Khan, before a trip briefing over a welcoming Mongolian feast.

Early morning flight to Dalanzadgad in the Gobi. A short transfer to the nearby Yol Valley, brings us to a magnificent canyon. After making any adjustments to the bikes, take an exploratory shakedown ride through the canyon, and ride to the tented camp sight in the evening.

Terrain becomes more difficult on a ride through the Shawart Valley and the surrounding Gurvan Saikhan mountain range. The ride is fun and technical, on a rocky and undulating ridgeline path.

Explore the vast Gegeet Valley, a summer grazing site used by nomads for herds of sheep, goat, and horses.

A true desert experience- ride to the Khongoryn Els sand dunes! The route takes us through the last stretch of green Gegeet valley and to the edge of the dunes, flanked by rugged mountains in the distance.

Leave the dunes behind and head northwest for arid desert plain. A long and gradual climb brings us to the top of a hill with sweeping views of the surrounding area, followed by a smooth descent. Explore a ravine in the afternoon.

One of the highlights of the trip, ride to Bayan Zag- the Flaming Cliffs. These magnificent sandstone structures are networked by undulating trails that are a blast to ride.

Set out from the cliffs into the vast expanse of the Gobi. An uphill journey, but gradual and not overly technical, leads us to a fantastic traditional Mongolia Ger Camp, where we'll stay the night.

Morning flight from Dalanzadgad and a free afternoon to rest or enjoy Ulaanbaatar.

Transfer to the airport for departure flight or onward travels.
