What's this trip about?

With so many islands to choose from, how does one even begin to decide on the ideal cycling route in the Philippines? This 13-day adventure set in the central island group of Visayas is our answer. We traverse four islands, riding on paved roads through countryside, jungles, and highlands, as well as skirting picturesque coastlines overlooking the Pacific. The cycling experience is enriched by plenty of stops at cultural sites, natural wonders, palm-fringed beaches and nights spent at lovely accommodations. We meet in bustling Cebu City and take a boat to the neighboring island of Bohol. Here we spend the first three days heading into a forest for a chance to encounter the world’s smallest primates (tarsiers), marveling at the iconic Chocolate Hills and climbing into the highlands of Sierra Bullones where rice-terraces are draped over the mountainsides. After a rest day near the beaches of Anda, we discover a hidden waterfall, ride along the coast with sweeping ocean views, and visit a beautifully-preserved Spanish coral stone church. On Day 8 we ferry from Bohol over to Siquijor, a small yet beautiful island renowned for its natural charm and mysticism. Here we treat ourselves to a three-night stay at a fantastic beach resort while we explore the island’s coasts, jungles, and villages. From Siquijor, we leapfrog by boat across one island, Negros, to then get to another, Cebu! Here we saddle up and ride along the stunning coast to Moalboal, where you have the opportunity to swim with schools of millions of Sardines. A final ride takes us up and down farm-studded mountains before concluding the tour back in Cebu City. They say “it’s more fun in the Philippines” - we say it’s even more fun on a bike! Join us on our island hopping adventure and we’re sure you’ll agree.

Day 1

Welcome to Cebu, the “Queen City of the South”! We will pick you up from Mactan International Airport and transfer you to our tour hotel in the city. In the evening we convene for a trip meeting and welcome dinner.

Day 2

We board a boat to Bohol Island and kick off our cycling adventure through the scenic Visayas countryside. Along the way, we visit a wildlife sanctuary for a chance to meet the world's smallest primates, the tarsiers. The ride concludes with a winding downhill to the picturesque Loboc River.

Day 3

We ride deep into Bohol’s interior, rising to a plateau crowned by the mesmerizing Chocolate Hills. Along the way we stop for optional ziplining over a gorge and cycle through a mahogany forest. In the afternoon we’ll relish views over the hundreds of symmetrical hills draped across the landscape.

Day 4

Today is challenging yet incredibly rewarding. We first climb to the heights of the rice-terrace covered Sierra Bullones highlands. This is followed by a thrilling 20 km downhill and a final stretch along the coast towards our ocean-facing resort near Anda.

Day 5

A well-earned rest day on Bohol’s coast. Relax at the resort or head to the nearby white-sand Anda beach for lounging. You may also be tempted by snorkeling, scuba diving, or boat tours.

Day 6

We discover more of Bohol off-the-beaten path. A 43 km morning ride takes us to a scenic reservoir where we enjoy a picnic lunch. A 19 km afternoon ride leads us to a hidden waterfall where we can enjoy a refreshing dip before arriving on the rocky shores of Dimiao.

Day 7

We begin with a ride along Bohol’s scenic southern coast and stop at Baclayon Church, one of the oldest coral stone Catholic churches in the Philippines. We then cross a bridge and circumnavigate nearly the entirety of Panglao Island before transferring to Tagbilaran where we spend the night.

Day 8

Today we cruise across the Bohol Sea to reach Siquijor, an island of natural beauty and mysticism. Once on the island, we enjoy an easy 27 km post-lunch ride to our elegant beachfront resort where we will be based for three nights.

Day 9

We circumnavigate the entire island of Siquijor on its well paved 86 km long coastal road. Along the way we visit a legendary tree harboring a natural fish spa, explore the Philippine's oldest Catholic Convent at Lazi, and enjoy views of turquoise waters from Salagdoong beach.

Day 10

We explore Siquijor’s lush interior highlands, starting with a drive to the summit of Mount Bandilaan. A thrilling 10 km downhill then takes us to the multi-tiered Cambugahay Waterfalls. You can cycle back to the resort or opt for a transfer and enjoy the afternoon relaxing by the beach.

Day 11

Today we’ll be on three islands and two boats! We cruise from Siquijor to Dumaguete and then across the Tanon Strait to southern Cebu. Here, 70 km of blissful coastal riding takes us from one rugged headland to the next until we reach the seaside town of Moalboal.

Day 12

In the early morning you have the option to witness the remarkable “Moalboal Sardine Run”. Our final ride traverses Cebu from west to east, climbing up and down the Central Cordillera, before transferring to Cebu City. We enjoy a farewell dinner.

Day 13

Transfer to the airport for your onward flight or extend your stay in Cebu.
