What to Look for in Cuba Travel Reviews
Most trip reviews tend to focus on some or all of these 5 key areas, not all of which may be relevant to you: the tour guide, travel company, service level, country or countries traveled in, and the trip itinerary.
Remember, just because you see a 1 star review doesn’t necessarily mean that person disliked the country.
Reviews for Cuba travel are a pretty mixed bag. The tourism infrastructure in Cuba is still fragile and traveling in the country requires some flexibility and a true sense of adventure in order to get the most out of the experience.
Having an experienced tour leader in Cuba is essential, and this largely affects whether Cuba tours are rated highly or poorly. Most reviewers credit their tour guide and the company for opening doors to seeing what the Cuban culture is really like.
For American travelers, if your expectation is to travel to Cuba and sit under palm trees on the beach, you will be sorely disappointed. Some travel restrictions are still in place for US citizens, and you must satisfy one of 12 broad categories in order to visit. While a day on the beach may very well be included on your tour, you need to be ready for more cultural activities as well.
