Extraordinary Journeys is a mother-daughter run company specializing in creating unique, custom-built safaris to East and Southern Africa and other unique safari destinations around the world. Extraordinary Journeys was founded by Marcia and Elizabeth Gordon, a mother-daughter team with decades of experience living and working in Africa.

Today Extraordinary Journeys is a fast growing team, passionate about African travel and with more than 40 years of combined Africa experience. Our many years of working on the ground in Africa are your guarantee of the safari of your dreams, and Extraordinary Journeys makes it a priority to provide wonderful service before, during and after your safari.

Prior to your safari: At Extraordinary Journeys, we want the best trip for you. With our personalized service, we get to know you so we can give you the best trip, unique to you and your travel style. We will work hand-in-hand with you throughout the entire process until we come up with the perfect product. This requires a great deal of dedication; creativity to come up with the best possible combinations given availability, budget, and location; and product savvy. Through our connections on the ground, we can hold rooms, negotiate special prices, and receive upgrades. Once we have finalized your itinerary, we create your final package so that you have all of the information you will need regarding visas, vaccinations, packing lists, must-know information about the countries you’re visiting, and all other logistics. We are always available to answer any questions you might have to make sure that you are at ease and excited!

During your safari: Once you book your trip, our job isn’t over. We make sure that you are well taken care of throughout your trip. This means everything from putting you in the hands of our trusted and reliable operators on the ground and getting you the best guides, down to the smallest details, such as making sure all your dietary needs are met. Most importantly, a member of our team is available to you 24/7 should an emergency occur. You are never on your own if something happens which means you can relax and enjoy your trip.

After your safari: Throughout the entire process, we really bond with our clients. We love working with you and sharing in your safari experience. We love seeing your photos and keeping in touch! We also really value your feedback on our experience, on everything from the food, to the guides, to ways we can improve, your input is essential.
