What travelers are saying

"When I signed up for the Wonders of Costa Rica at a slower pace. The hotel listed in the itinerary for day 8&9 was a 4 star hotel on the beach called the Punta Leona. I'm not sure when but Road Scholar changed the Punta Leona hotel for the 3 star Villa Lapis Jungle hotel. I was shocked when we drove up to this dump. Others in the group wanted to leave and find another hotel. I had black bugs under that shower mat and the shower did not drain, Spiders on the wall and roaches coming out of the cracked in the bathroom. The bed was a thin mattress on a board and was hard as a rock. The food they put out was covered with a wrap but 15 minutes after the plastic wrap was removed it was covered with fruit flies. I passed on the open food bowls. The walls were real thin and the neighbors were real noisy until 11:30 pm. Others in the group complained about the late night noise, spiders and toilet seat being broken. I'm not sure where this place gets 3 stars. After I saw the roaches, I give it a 1 star. Road Scholar put us up in beautiful hotels and then they take us here. You can do better than this Road Scholar. The end the story, Road Scholar customer service called me about my concern and said they have never used the Punta Leona, (I sent her my itinerary that said PUNTA LEONA). She also said they haven't had any complaints about this Villa Lapis dump. After her call, I'm not sure if I'll ever travel with Road Scholar again. Enough said...."

What travelers are saying

"My husband and I booked the Yellowstone tour with Tauck expecting so much more with the accommodations, food, and tour director based on the price point. We were sadly disappointed but still tried to enjoy the experience. Rooms were dirty, food were often buffets and other group dinners with some food inedible. We noticed other tours staying in our hotels and paying much less for their tours. One positive was we never touched our luggage which was nice but my small suitcase was damaged during one transfer. Word to the wise… read their emails thoroughly as the email we received a few weeks before our trip reads like a disclaimer for poor service and accommodations."

What travelers are saying

"Four of us recently traveled to Yellowstone in early September 2024. We were part of a small 10 guest group. Our guides, David Whaylad and Kathy Powell were extraordinary! They both exuded such a love and appreciation for the area that it was infectious. They guided us to areas that larger groups did not have access to and often times, they surprised us with "treats" after our adventure was done. I highly recommend Austin Adventures and look forward to another trip in the near future. Thank you Kathy & David!"

What travelers are saying

"Our 8th OU tour was to Switzerland. We visited many sites in Switzerland, Austria and also a quick stop in Germany. O.U. takes all the stress away by using outstanding Tour Directors who handle everything. Our T. D. Kiara was fantastic! She worked flawlessly throughout the tour, even when we were stuck in Zermatt after a flood. I highly recommend O.U."

Namibia Tour Selection Trips

  • Consider taking a fly-in safari to quickly access Namibia’s way-out-of-the-way but thoroughly mesmerizing far corners, with the bonus of terrific aerial views.
  • Not all tours include Namibia’s Atlantic Ocean coastline, but if yours does, you’ll find isolated Germanic resort towns and extensive marine life, including Cape fur seals -- and a nice break from the desert heat.
  • Don’t expect to find lush surroundings as you might elsewhere in Africa -- except in the slender Caprivi Strip that forms the northwestern reaches of the country.
  • The Caprivi Strip in northern Namibia is close to Zimbabwe’s Victoria Falls, and tour operators often offer the falls as part of a Namibia safari.
  • If your main interest in going to Africa is to see big game, you can do so in Namibia -- but you might prefer other parts of southern Africa or East Africa. If you’re looking for gorgeous landscapes and solitude as well, Namibia may be ideal for you.
  • Visiting Namibia is generally less expensive than neighboring Botswana, and less touristed than countries such as South Africa and Kenya.
