"The ancient 4-day Lost City trek in the Sierra Nevada, Colombia, provided a mix of awe-inspiring moments and frustrating setbacks, largely due to the shortcomings of Wiwai Tours. While initially drawn to Wiwai for their promise of indigenous tour guides, our experience was soured by the glaring absence and apathy of our assigned guide, Benjamin. Throughout the journey, our group found ourselves repeatedly questioning Benjamin's whereabouts, as he seemed more interested in socializing with his friends than providing us information to his paying customers. Despite Wiwai's organizational flaws, the trek itself offered breathtaking scenery and a unique opportunity for adventure. However, the lack of structure and guidance from our tour guide left much to be desired. Icebreakers or introductory sessions could have helped foster a sense of camaraderie among the group, while providing essential context for the journey would have enhanced our understanding and appreciation of the experience. Moreover, Wiwai Tours' disregard for customer safety became evident when my companion fell ill on the second day, likely from contaminated water or food, and possibly heat stroke. Despite his obvious distress, our guide and translator failed to offer any direct assistance or inquire about his well-being, leaving us to rely on the support of fellow trekkers. Additionally, the lack of information about the local culture, the trek itself, and the indigenous people until each evening was disappointing. The sporadic delivery of information made it challenging to absorb after a long day of trekking, highlighting the need for continuous enrichment throughout the day. In conclusion, while the 4-day Lost City trek offers incredible natural beauty and adventure, I would caution against booking with Wiwai Tours until they address their organisation, or moreover had Benjamin as their guide - I am aware that my review contrasts to others. So looks like we got the short straw unfortunately."

"I did the 4 days Inca Trek with Trexperience and it was an amazing experience! Our guide, Charly, was very nice company and he told us many things on the way about different Inca sites, the nature and its animals and flowers und peruvian and Inca Culture in general. The night before the trip, Charly came to our place for a briefing about the upcoming hike and about all the things we should or shouldn't take, so we felt very well prepared. The next morning we were picked up at the Hotel and drove with a minivan to the starting point of the tour. On the way we visted a little school, that now can afford some computers with internet connection that because they are supported bei Trexperience, which was very nice to see! When the hike started it was a great journey. The breathtaking scenery during the hike was absolute worth the challenging walk. We were perfectly supported by the Trexperience crew of porters and a cook. They provided absolutey everything we needed and more. The food was absolutey stunning and I wouldn't have thought these were meals cooked on a mountain without a proper kitchen. The service of the porters, the cook and the guide was absolutely worth the price, the work they do really is incredible. For that reason I was very happy to see, that Trexperience is a company which cares for their porters and provided equipment for them and treats them well - unfortunately not every company we saw on the way did this... All in all I can absolutely recommend Trexperience for the Inca Trail in Peru and in general I can recommend the Inca Trail, it is an unforgettable amazing experience! "Takes a huge amount of coordinating trips with outside organizations so not without some problems. Being a solo tourist in a foreign country sometimes those problems were quite scary. Overall, I believe this group did their best to ensure I had a safe and wondrous adventure."

"I went on this trip with some misgivings, as my only other experience with this type of tour was a winter Tauck Family Bridges tour of Italy, that was not a good experience. Well, I am SO glad I went, as my daughter and I had a marvelous time. Disney did an amazing job of organizing this trip - I still can't believe how much they managed to fit into essentially 8 days. I also can't believe how much fun it all was! The guides were tremendous. First of all, unlike Tauck (where we traveled with one tour manager), here we had two guides with us the entire time - one a licensed guide in Greece (i.e., a native, very knowledgeable about the country and able to really take us through the historical and archaeological sites) and the other an American who has been guiding in Greece for years. The interaction between the guides was very warm, as was their way of relating to the guests. This was a complete contrast with Tauck. Here people really got to know each other, the young people had a great time with each other, and, of course, Greece itself is just magnificent. I will certainly travel with Disney again!"

"As a solo traveller I did the 5 Day Salkantay trek on the 15th of April with Conde Travel, after I previously did the Rainbow Mountain Hike on the 14th and Sacred Valley tour on the 13th, all with Conde Travel. All activities turned out to be great experiences. Partly because I got so lucky with the weather as well as with the group and guides! Both hikes were extremely well arranged from the piking up at the hostels in Cusco, to the good breakfast for the necessary energy to climb the mountains as well as the delicious lunch. The Sacred Valley Tour is great if you want to have more of a chill day. I particularly enjoyed the energy of our guide Durian, during the Salkantay Trek. Personal highlights were the Rainbow Mountain, and the Zip-line and Hot Spring Activity on Day 3 and 4 of Salkantay Trek. Small note, is that I would advice people to take the train back, as it is more quick and convenient. Also it can be though at times, with the hike to the beautiful lake and to the top, however if you bring extra snacks, water and power bars you should be able to make it Machu Pichu on Day 5 without to much hassle. The sunrise over Machu Pichu on day 5 made it an unforgettable experience. Final tip for the Rainbow mountain, try to do this after you acclimatised for some days in Cusco, as it can be difficult at 5.000+ meters. Thanks Durian and Conde Travel for organising!"

"Our most recent trip with Hidden Places, the La Rioja Bicycle tour, has only confirmed our high regard for the quality and attention to detail that make their trips beyond parallel. Starting in Pamplona, we enjoyed seven days of riding through gorgeous, verdant green countryside, through lovely historic hilltop villages, through wildflowers, vineyards, fields of wheat and oats, and alongside many pilgrims on the Camino de Santiago de Compostela. We toured an underground winery in Laguardia, a monastery dating to the 11th century, the Frank Gehry designed winery in Elciego and the most amazing wine museum, Vizcano, with a world class collection of everything wine! Our lodgings, always beautiful and a welcome sight after a day’s ride, varied from a repurposed flour mill to historic convents. And the food . . . beyond description, always fresh, always beautifully presented, and always nearly too much ☺ The trip was more than we ever could have imagined, the hallmark of Hidden Places Travel. It would be remiss not to mention the best part of it all, our guides Lukas and Laura who took great care of us, made us laugh, taught me more wildflowers and kept us all going and enjoying.
