"On our honeymoon (partly in Tanzania) we did a 10 day safari with Hoopoe and specifically went for a locally owned company with a good reputation. Elias was our guide/driver who showed us more than we could have imagined, he found all the main animals and was very friendly and forthcoming with information about life in Tanzania. The company has their own camps and we were treated very well there, the food on the safari was ridiculously good considering where we were. All in all we walked away very positive about Hoopoe, they are a little bit more expensive than other providers but the service, accommodation, food etc are the exact reason why... also we were in a comfy landrover while everyone else was in landcruisers... Lastly, we originally booked on a group safari and although it ended up just being my wife and I, the tour went ahead anyway. How many tour companies would do that!"

He was incredibly knowledgeable, could spot not just the big animals everyone comes to Tanzania to see but also incredible bird, and small wildlife as well. "My husband and I booked with Expect in Africa for our honeymoon in Tanzania and had the most amazing experience! Lawrence put together an excellent itinerary for us over 17 days. We started in Stone Town, Zanzibar then flew over to the mainland where we went on safari in Tarangire National Park, Ngorogoro Crater, and the Serengeti, and we also got to see the wildebeest migration crossing the Mara River in the northern Serengeti. Our safari guide Joseph was amazing and so knowledgable about the areas we went and all the animals! We also did a day hike at Mount Kilimanjaro which was such a cool experience. After that, we went back to Zanzibar and stayed in Nungwi for some relaxation and also did a Zanzibar spice tour. We loved all of the lodges and hotels we stayed at, and everyone we met from Expect in Africa was so friendly. Every part of the trip was so great, and we made so many memories that we'll have for a lifetime. I would definitely recommend Expect in Africa to anyone going to Tanzania!"

"Our Safari guides, who had all been with the company for 10, 15 even 20 years, always had the best interest of animals (and safety of guests) in mind. The close encounters we had were typically when animals walked right up to the road. Many guides unfortunately go “off-roading” in order to ensure guests get great pictures, meanwhile destroying flora and fauna and disturbing animals. Our guides served as spotters for not only for animals, but for trash. If any trash was seen, our guides quickly pulled over to collect it. We only saw 1 or 2 pieces of trash in the many miles we covered in multiple parks. Our guides were incredibly passionate about reducing use of plastic. They described the ongoing training the company provides them on the impact of the use of plastic. On our first day, our guide provided us with reusable water bottles to use during our trip - he was thrilled to see I had already packed mine. Our guide also spoke about hoping to inspire others to reduce/eliminate the use of plastics in order to protect future generations. He was terrified at the thought of our sea salt containing microplastics. I absolutely feel like we chose the right company to guide us through Tanzania. It truly felt like a mutually educational experience which is so important when traveling. We can’t wait to go back and explore more of beautiful Africa!"

"In planning for a safari trip, we learned of Adventure to Africa at a travel show in NYC. We knew the countries we wanted to visit and discussed the trip with several travel companies, large and small. Adventure to Africa listened to our objectives and budget and made proposal to meet them. Others gave us off the shelf options. Adventure to Africa recommended breaking up the safari camps with visits to Cape Town and Johannesburg in a way that made the trip much more enjoyable than we first intended. The Safari camps spanned a variety of ecological areas and a variety of bush camp operators. All of the activities suggested were ideal and reservations accurate and timely. This is the first time in our travels an adviser checked up during the trip to assure everything met our expectations, much less twice. We found the recommendations made were helpful and exhibited broad and deep experience. Restaurants suggested ran the gamut from fine dining to exotic to an excellent, if humble, fish house on a pier outside of Cape Town. The Cape wine tour was excellent and customized to our needs. We will recommend Adventure to Africa to anyone planning a trip to Africa."
