What's this trip about?

Our six day trek leads us through remote river valleys and over a 15,000 ft pass to our final destination, Machu Picchu, the lost city of the Incas and one of the New 7 Wonders of the Ancient World.  As we cross these different eco systems we meet the indigenous people and explore their unique way of life. Our route traverses the snow covered Cordillera Vilcabamba Range and we walk beneath its highest mountain, Mt Salkantay (20,600ft) the 2nd most sacred mountain in Inca mythology. Besides the Peruvian people and the incredible views, our trek is exceptional because we dine and sleep in luxury lodges along the entire route.  Three of the four lodges accommodate only 12 people, all lodges have incredible views and we have the hot tubs and chefs to ourselves. We are the only outfitter for this trek to add a professional mountain guide to the local staff. Most of our trekkers have commented that having a Western guide was a crucial part of their trekking experience.

Cancellation policy

Peru Cancellation/Refund Policy

Note: Alpine Ascents International highly recommends trip cancellation insurance for all expeditions. Due to the nature and heavy costs of government and operator permits, Alpine Ascents International must adhere to a stringent refund policy.

Each deposit, regardless of amount, includes a $200.00 non-refundable registration fee.

Full refunds, less registration fee, will be provided 120-days or more prior to course, trek and/or expedition date.

50% refunds will be provided 90-119 days prior to course, trek and/or expedition date.

No refunds will be provided 89-days prior to course, trek and/or expedition date.

All refund requests must be made in writing and be received in our office within the deadlines stated above.

All balances are due 120 days prior to departure date unless otherwise specified.

Participants whose balances are not received by the 120-day deadline as stated above, risk forfeiture of their place on the expedition.

Note: Alpine Ascents reserves the right to waive any fees. As we offer personalized service, we will attempt to accommodate changes and cancellations when necessary, waiving certain fees when feasible.

Trip Cancellation Insurance

As there are many unforeseen circumstances that may occur during or leading up to the trip, we highly recommend trip cancellation insurance.

In many situations, this may be the only way to receive a refund for unused services.

In brief, Trip Cancellation insurance may allow you to get reimbursement if you need to cancel your expedition when you are not entitled to a refund from Alpine Ascents.

Alpine Ascents International offers a plan in conjunction with Travelex.

Travel Insurance
We strongly recommend purchasing travel insurance alongside your travel package to safeguard against unforeseen circumstances such as medical expenses, trip cancellations, and other contingencies. It offers you peace of mind and ensures you are prepared for unexpected events that may occur before or during your journey
Visa requirements
Visa requirements vary depending on your country of origin and your country of destination. It is your responsibility to familiarize yourself with the relevant requirements. For a handy tool that can help you quickly find the requirements, please visit this link .
