Self-drive Botswana safari

Enjoy a full day of activities from Nxai Pan. These include walking with the San Bushmen, learning about their culture and nomadic lifestyle. Guided walks are also available, or you can simply unwind at the camp with views of the popular waterhole.

Nxai Pan is famous for the enormous Baines' Baobabs which are a prominent feature of the desert landscape here. You can go on a full day trip, taking a picnic lunch with you. During the day you are likely to see wildlife such as elephant, zebra, bat-eared foxes and possibly even cheetah.

You'll get back in your own vehicle today and drive back towards Maun and then head to the fringes of the Okavango Delta and the community owned concession of Khwai. Here you will experience more driving in the bush and on sandy tracks with more wildlife around you. You should aim to arrive in time for early afternoon so you can go out on an evening safari activity.

Activities in the Khwai Concession focus on game drives during both the day- and night-time. Guided walks are also available and depending on the water levels you may be able to head out on a mokoro too.

Another full day on safari today. You can head out on an early morning walk, before the temperatures get too high, returning to camp for lunch. In the afternoon another game drive will head out, stopping for sundowners and then returning to camp after dark, using a spotlight to see any nocturnal game.

After breakfast this morning you will need to drive yourselves out of the concession and back to Maun in time to drop off the car and catch your onward flight.
