Wonders of Peru: Cuzco, Machu Picchu & Amazon cruise

Today you begin your journey by boarding your international outbound flight to Lima.

Upon arrival in Lima today take a connecting flight to the beautiful colonial city of Cuzco. Transfer to your hotel and enjoy an afternoon at leisure to acclimatise to the altitude.

The morning is yours to relax and soak up the atmosphere in the central square. After lunch enjoy a guided tour of the highlights of Cuzco and nearby Inca ruins.

Travel by road out of Cuzco and into the fertile and picturesque valley known as the Sacred Valley of the Incas, stopping to visit Pisac market and ruins you then head on to the impressive Inca site at Ollantaytambo.

Travel to Machu Picchu by train and coach with your guide where you will take a private guided tour of the magnificent Inca citadel. Spend the night in a hotel in Machu Picchu town.

You will have the opportunity to explore the ruins again at your own leisure today - we recommend arriving early to explore in the mystical morning light. Take the train back to Cuzco this afternoon where you will be met and driven to your hotel.

Transfer to the airport for your flight to Iquitos, where you will board your three night Amazon cruise. The cruise takes in the Pacaya Samiria Reserve in the Amazon Basin, and you will be cruising along the tributaries of the Amazon.

First morning of walking in the jungle, it will be an early start most mornings as the wildlife is more active at this time. The rewards for this are superb though, with a huge range of flora an fauna to see.

Further excursions from the ship which include gentle walks in the jungle and piranha fishing. All excursions are optional.

Disembark from your cruise in time for an evening flight to Lima, where you will be met and transferred to your hotel.

Enjoy a guided tour of Lima's key sights this morning before travelling to the airport for your onward flight.
