What's this trip about?

    This journey across India and Nepal retraces the same journey as that of the Buddha from his birth to enlightenment to teaching and to his death.. 

    We will start this journey from national capital and will continue to Lucknow, a historically important city, also famed throughout India for its elaborate cuisine and exquisite shadow work embroidery. 
    From here onwards, we will visit different important cities related to the life of The Buddha. Sarnath where Lord Buddha delivered his very first sermon; Bodhgaya where young, Siddhartha Gautama, attained enlightenment; Lumbini, the birthplace of Prince Siddharta Gautama who went on to become Lord Buddha.
    In the end, visit Varanasi, one of India’s holiest cities. 

    This journey is interesting for the followers of Buddhism.

    Please note:
    * We would like to caution you that in cities like Sravasti, Kushinagar and Patna, hotels are very basic. 
    * Incase you would like to add Taj Mahal to this program, please let us know. 
    *This price is per person price based on a minimum 2 persons traveling together and sharing 1 double / twin bedded room. If you wish to stay in 2 rooms on single occupancy, there will be an extra cost. In case, traveling as a family or more than 2 persons, let us know to send you a revised price offer.

Itinerary

Day 01: Arrive Delhi

Arrive in Delhi and meet your representative at the airport. Transfer to hotel (check-in time 14h00). Overnight at hotel.

Day 02: Delhi

• Orientation tour of New Delhi Humayun’s tomb

Day 03: Delhi / Lucknow (by flight – 1h10 flight duration)

Day 04: Lucknow / Sravasti

Drive to Sravasti where, the Buddha spent the longest part of his life after attaining enlightenment. Visit Jetavana, a monastery outside Sravasti, was where the Buddha gave the majority of his discourses and spent over 30 rainy retreats. It is said that it was in Sravasti that the Buddha transformed Angulimal from a dacoit into a Buddhist monk.

Day 05: Sravasti / Lumbini

Drive to Lumbini, birthplace of Buddha (situated in Nepal) and UNESCO World heritage site. It houses monasteries and temples from nearly every Buddhist country which is evidence of the popularity of Buddhism that exist today. Visit the Lumbini Gardens and the Maya Devi Temple (dedicated to Buddha's mother).

Day 06: Lumbini / Kushinagar

Drive to Kushinagar where Buddha attained Mahaparinirvana (death) in 543 BC and was cremated. His final words to those congregated at the site are thought to have been, 'All composite things pass away. Strive for your own liberation with diligence.' 6 metres long stat...

Day 07: Kushinagar / Vaishali / Patna

Drive to Patna with enroute stop at Vaishali, an essential location in the development of Buddhism as a religion as it is the place where the Buddha accepted women into the monastic order. Day 08: Patna / Nalanda / Rajgir / Bodhgaya
