Itinerary

During the afternoon your personal driver/guide will meet you at the TGV train station in Avignon. You will be driven to your hotel and after a chance to settle down and rest we will meet again for a welcome aperitif. All suggestions will be welcome on how you would like to enjoy Avignon and spend your first evening in Provence.
Our drive today will take us to Gordes, "one of the most beautiful villages in France" followed by Roussillon, famous for its magnificent red cliffs and ochre quarries. Tonight we will enjoy a beautiful evening in the capital of Provence, a living history book with a rich heritage: Welcome to Aix Provence.
The morning is the best time to explore Les Baux de Provence, known for its gorgeous views over the Provencal landscape and its artisan colony. After lunch, we will take a short drive to Arles, the "Little Rome in Gaul". In 1981, the Roman and Romanesque buildings of Arles were listed as UNESCO World Heritage Monuments. Some of Van Gogh’s most famous paintings were done in this wonderful town.
Today is a very special day! You are going to discover the Camargue with white horses and the pink flamingos. After our lunch in Les Saintes Maries de la Mer we will continue to Aigues Mortes. Aigues Mortes is an exquisite walled village built in 1240 when the King Saint Louis decided to build a city in order to have direct access to the Mediterranean sea.
Back on the road, the colorful city of Sete is the right place to enjoy a light lunch. Built on an old volcano the little Venice of Languedoc offers spectacular views over Lake Etang de Thau and the oyster beds. In the afternoon we will drive all the way down to Narbonne visiting several unusual, but exceptional places on the way.
After a visit to the old town of Narbonne and its stunning covered market hall, a beautiful drive thru the countryside will bring us to an extraordinary architectural monument, unique in Europe: the world famous medieval walled city of Carcassonne. The castle was used as the backdrop to scenes in the film "Robin Hood of Thieves", starring Kevin Costner.
This our last morning together. After breakfast the car will take you to the train station or the airport for your next destination. Au revoir.
