Cameron Highlands
These cool, emerald highlands filled with a temples, hiking trails, hill stations and tea tasting is ideal for those looking to escape the heat, or discover Malaysia’s more sedate rural side.
Bearing more of a resemblance to the English home counties than Malaysia, Cameron is a network of four hill station townships (Ringlet, Tanah Kata, Brinchang and Kea Farm) enveloped by prolific highland jungle, farms, flowers and tea plantations. Explore these with trekking and hiking trails. For the best mountain-top view, choose the Gunung Brinchang Trail which boasts magnificent panoramic vistas from the Highland’s highest point.
You can also discover its picturesque waterfalls, the beautiful Buddhist temples in Brinchang, night markets, butterfly gardens, to dining on ‘steamboats’ (fragrant hotpot) to curry to tea and scones, and of course just enjoying the peaceful and cool countryside living.
Penang
Up the coast from Kuala Lumpur, Penang’s mix of historical heritage, alluring cuisine, easy going beaches, modern city life and the interesting UNESCO World Heritage Site of Georgetown, makes for a very worthwhile destination.
A city with an assured contemporary buzz has also held onto its past and multicultural heritage for an intriguing mix of architecture with churches, mosques, temples and reflects Penang’s assorted social fabric of Chinese to Malay and Indian. Infamous throughout all of South East Asia for its gastronomy, many find its food stalls, hawker centres and restaurants reason enough to visit Penang. Thanks to the culinary contribution of its varied inhabitants you can feast on Indian curries, Thai delicacies, Malay specialities and Chinese staples.
Besides history and culture, Penang also boasts an array of luxurious sun-soaked beaches on the northern shore. Here, swaying palm trees dot the serene, sandy coastline with Batu Ferringhi being a top choice
Pangkor Laut
Pangkor Laut, once a Dutch fort, is where to come for a tranquil and authentic fishing village atmosphere, quiet, beautiful beaches and its wild, jungle interior. Not to mention its eminent award-winning resort, Pangkor Laut on its own private island.
You can reach Pangkor Laut by road from Kuala Lumpur (3.5 hours by road plus a 15 minute boat ride) or by helicopter from numerous locations.
Fish, play golf, go kayaking or simply kick back and relax.
Kuala Lumpur
Booming and burgeoning, Kuala Lumpar is a considerable sight to behold in the form of a towering cityscape, sprawling neighbourhoods, assorted cultural collage, and a rich dining, shopping and nightlife scene.
While the city has much to offer, given the other more desirable locations in Malaysia in which to spend your time, KL (as the locals affectionately call it) is more of a necessary entry or exit point.
Nonetheless we can organise the best and most convenient hotels, fine dining experiences and privately guided tours led by our expert guides so as to make the most of your time in KL, according to you.
