Itinerary

Day 1
Overnight Melbourne

Day 2
MELBOURNE, GIPPSLAND, LAKES ENTRANCE Our scenic journey begins as we head east from Melbourne towards Gippsland, a diverse region mixing farmland, scenic coastlines and mountain ranges. This afternoon we arrive into Lakes Entrance with some time to stroll the beach boardwalk and explore the town. Our home tonight is the Bellevue on Lakes.

Day 3
OMEO, MOUNT HOTHAM, BRIGHT, WANGARATTA Spectacular scenery today as we travel the Great Alpine Road across the Great Divide to the historic gold mining village of Omeo, continuing to Mount Hotham and Harrietville. Time to explore the beautiful tree lined streets of Bright before reaching Wangaratta and home for two nights, the Quality Hotel Wangaratta Gateway.

Day 4
BEECHWORTH, MILAWA, WANGARATTA We spend our morning in historic Beechworth, a gold rush era township. Some free time to explore before taking a guided tour of the town. We travel to Milawa, visiting both Milawa Cheese Company and Milawa Mustards. A stroll of the sunken gardens in Merriwa Park completes our day.

 

Day 5
CORRYONG, KHANCOBAN, ALPINE WAY, JINDABYNE Today we make our way to Corryong, visiting the Man from Snowy River Museum, then continuing to Khancoban. This afternoon we follow the Alpine Way through the Kosciuszko National Park, passing portions of the Snowy Hydro Scheme and enjoying numerous scenic vistas. Our home for two nights is the Rydges Horizons, Jindabyne.

Day 6
THREDBO, KOSCIUSZKO NATIONAL PARK, JINDABYNE A memorable day as we visit Charlotte Pass, the highest permanent settlement in Australia with sweeping views of nearby Mt Kosciuszko. This afternoon we visit Thredbo Alpine Resort with time to explore the European style village before taking a scenic chairlift ride to the top of Eagle’s Nest. A highlight of our holiday!

Day 7
YARRANGOBILLY CAVES, A DELONG, TUMUT This morning we visit Yarrangobilly Caves, exploring the fascinating limestone formations in Jillabenan Cave. Enjoy a picnic lunch here prior to departing for the sleepy hamlet of Adelong. At Adelong Falls we take in the scenic view over the ruins of a former gold mine. Tonight’s home is the Country Comfort, Tumut Valley Motel.

Day 8
TUMUT, GOULBURN, SYDNEY Departing Tumut we view the iconic Dog on the Tucker Box at Gundagai. Continuing along the Hume Highway we enjoy a farewell lunch together in Goulburn before continuing to Sydney completing a very scenic and majestic holiday.
