Itinerary

Day 1 UK - Cologne Titan’s VIP door-to-door travel service collects you from home for your journey to Dover, where we take a break before boarding our coaches, for the Channel crossing to Calais and onward journey to Cologne. Upon arrival, embark MS Serenade 1 (4T), where light refreshments are available. A welcome cocktail and Captain’s gala dinner are served this evening. Day 2 Lorelei Rock - Rüdesheim Relax on board and watch the stunning scenery as we sail through the Lorelei Passage and navigate the fabled Lorelei Rock, arriving in Rüdesheim over lunch. Spend the afternoon exploring this Roman city at your leisure, or take an optional excursion to visit Siegfried’s Mechanical Music Museum, which holds an impressive collection of beautiful automated instruments and an insight into the history and mechanics of music boxes. This evening we have included a classical music performance. Day 3 Mannheim - Speyer We sail on to Mannheim where we disembark for an included tour to the Black Forest. We drive along the renowned and scenic ‘Schwarzwald Hochstrasse’, and take a cruise on Lake Titisee, from where stunning views of the wooded mountain range can be seen; and take this opportunity to sample the delicious Black Forest Gateau created from the Morello cherries that grow here. The ship sails to Speyer - one of Germany’s oldest cities and once hugely influential. The 11th century cathedral, one of the most important monuments from the Holy Roman Empire era, has a crypt which contains the tombs of eight of Germany’s emperors and kings. Day 4 Strasbourg We have a full day to explore the grand city of Strasbourg which has often shifted between French and German rule. You may appreciate an optional tour of the city centre to become familiar with the ancient artisan Petite France area and the monumental cathedral which features wonderfully intricate carvings and a clock that is particularly impressive as it strikes 12:30pm. The optional tour also includes a boat ride along the city’s canals, lined with beautiful timber-framed houses. The rest of the day is at leisure to roam along the picturesque alleys that twist through the Old Town’s rich merchant roots. Day 5 Basel Arriving in Basel early this morning, we embark on an included excursion to Mount Rigi. From the banks of Lucerne we take a boat across the lake and meet a train which takes us through the beautiful Rigi Bahn Valley. From the top you are free to enjoy breathtaking panoramic views from various viewpoints, taking in over 13 lakes, the Mittelland and the Swiss Alps. We return to our vessel by cable car and coach. Day 6 Breisach After a morning of scenic sailing along the border of France and Germany, we dock in Breisach. Take this opportunity to spend more time in the Black Forest with a visit to beautiful Lake Titisee. Popular with watersports fans, you may have your own adventure on the lake with a boat trip. Day 7 Kehl We arrive in Kehl this morning to take an included excursion to the historic Alsatian town of Colmar. Crooked half-timbered houses in chalk-box shades along cobbled lanes and flora-lined canals have created a town that is considered by some as the most beautiful in the world. Our guided tour takes in the wealth of historical and architectural heritage and, as the capital of central Alsace it is an ideal location to discover the Alsatian lifestyle. Day 8 Mainz - Lorelei Rock - Koblenz Start your day in Mainz, the capital during Roman reign. If you choose to explore this morning, you will see the city’s history through the various architectural styles across the city - the half-timbered buildings of the Altstadt are a big attraction, as is the Gutenberg Museum, which holds three of the extremely rare 42-line Gutenberg Bible. At lunchtime we return through the Lorelei Passage to Koblenz where we dock overnight. Day 9 Koblenz - Bonn This morning, join an included walking tour of this attractive, historical town. Koblenz is dominated by Ehrenbreitstein Fortress, the second largest fortress in Europe after Gibraltar, and we take a cable car to the fortress for magnificent views over the Rhine and Moselle. We sail to Bonn, arriving late this afternoon. Day 10 Bonn - Cologne Start today discovering Bonn at your leisure, or take an optional walking tour of this Roman city, fortified in 1244 after an already tumultuous history. The quiet city became capital of West Germany in 1949 until German reunification. Included in the optional tour is entrance to Beethoven’s House - home, during his youth, to Bonn’s most famous son. We continue our voyage to Cologne for an afternoon at leisure in Germany’s fourth largest city. The magnificent medieval cathedral is worth a visit and its spires provide a useful point for orientation as they soar above the city’s rooftops. Day 11 Amsterdam We make our final journey to Amsterdam this morning and, arriving after lunch, you have the afternoon to explore this fascinating city at leisure - perhaps visit the numerous museums renowned throughout the world, including the Anne Frank House or, for art lovers, the Rijksmuseum, Van Gogh Museum or Stedelijk Museum. Or take an optional tour of the city, including a boat tour through its famous canals. We remain in port overnight. Tonight, enjoy the Captain’s farewell gala dinner on board. Day 12 Amsterdam - UK After breakfast we board our waiting coaches for the return journey to Calais and Channel crossing. Upon arrival in Dover, your Titan vehicle will be waiting for the journey home.
