German Rivers and Waterways

Day 1 Southampton Titan’s VIP door-to-door travel service collects you from home, for your journey to Southampton where our staff will greet you and assist with embarking Braemar (3T+) in readiness for a late evening sailing. Day 2 At sea Day 3 Hamburg, Germany - Cruising River Elbe - Kiel Canal Transit We dock in Hamburg early this morning, with a full day free to discover this captivating German city characterised by a web of canals and waterways spanned by 1,000 picturesque bridges. Discover the many historic buildings and significant monuments that illustrate the influence of the Hanseatic League, including the steeple of St Nikolai. Late this evening, we sail along the River Elbe and then make an overnight transit of the Kiel Canal - a waterway that links the North Sea with the Baltic. Day 4 Flensburg - Cruising Flensburg Fjord This morning we continue our voyage through the world’s busiest artificial waterway to Flensburg, one of Germany’s northernmost towns. This beautiful town has a captivating skyline and welcoming atmosphere. The town’s monuments include grand churches, museums and galleries; or visit the beautiful waterfront to discover Flensburg’s delightful blend of German and Dutch culture, with restaurants and bars serving traditional dishes and locally-brewed beers. Early this afternoon we voyage along the calm waters of Flensburg Fjord, a beautiful stretch of water that forms part of the Danish-German border. Day 5 Travemünde This morning we arrive in Travemünde, a coastal suburb of Lübeck - a UNESCO-listed town steeped in history and the former capital of the Hanseatic League. Home to many wealthy merchants during the Hanseatic era, an array of wonderful gabled houses, stunning churches and public buildings with huge gates, vast towers and gilded steeples were built in Lübeck. These monuments of a bygone era are within easy reach of Travemünde. Day 6 Kiel Canal Transit Today our ship makes a daylight transit of the Kiel Canal - a waterway that is today the basis for the trade between Baltic countries and the rest of the world. Enjoy a relaxing day as we sail past riverside towns and ports. Day 7 Cruising Weser River - Bremen (overnight) Cruise along the beautiful Weser River - home to one of Europe’s longest river islands, Harriersand - to arrive early evening in the city of Bremen. Braemar is one of only a few cruise vessels that can call at Bremen, with larger ships having to stop several miles away at Bremerhaven. We dock overnight here. Day 8 Bremen We have a full day free to explore Bremen, once a member of the Hanseatic League and home to some incredible Gothic architecture. In the Marktplatz (Market Square) you will find the Town Hall of Bremen, a Gothic structure originally built between 1405 and 1410. This UNESCO World Heritage Site currently hosts a restaurant with original Hanseatic era décor and the Bremer Ratskeller, a public house in the basement. The Town Hall is also home to the 12 oldest wines in the world. Day 9 At sea Day 10 Southampton We disembark after breakfast. You will be met and guided to your Titan vehicle, for the journey home.
