Unwind in Sicily

Day 1 London - Palermo - Campofelice di Roccella Titan’s VIP door-to-door travel service collects you from home, for your journey to London Heathrow Airport for a direct, scheduled British Airways or easyJet flight to Palermo, Sicily. On arrival we drive to our hotel for the next seven nights, the Acacia Resort (4T) or Fiesta Hotel Athènee Palace (4T), in Campofelice di Roccella. Dinner is included each evening during our stay. Day 2 Castelbuono - Cefalù Spend your morning on an included excursion to Castelbuono to visit the 14th century castle which gave the town its name. This restored landmark holds the Civic Museum and a chapel which illustrates the wealth of the castle’s creator, the powerful Count Francesco. We then travel to Cefalù. With free time in this picture-perfect, medieval district, you may like to visit the cathedral, watch the fishermen at work in the little port, see the old fishermen houses on the long sandy beach, or simply stroll through the narrow streets of honey coloured Arab-Norman buildings. We return to the hotel to spend the remainder of the day at leisure. Day 3 Monreale - Palermo Our excursion today takes us to Monreale, with included entrance to its cathedral (Duomo) and cloisters, often described as Sicily’s greatest Norman buildings. They were founded by Norman ruler William the Good, who wanted an extravagant royal church worthy of being the final resting place for himself and his successors. The cathedral is befittingly decorated with over 6,000 square metres of gleaming gold mosaics. We then take a tour of Palermo city, followed by some time at leisure to explore. The island’s capital was once one of Europe’s leading cities, with frequent invasions bringing new cultures and influences, noted through the glorious historic buildings. The Cathedral is a particularly impressive example of Sicily’s unique Arab-Norman geometric decoration. Day 4 Campofelice di Roccella Take a day to relax at your hotel or alternatively, an optional excursion is available to Piazza Armerina, a glorious Roman town. Villa del Casale is its most notable property, originally owned by a powerful Roman family in the 4th century AD. This magnificent Imperial villa is one of the best preserved of the Roman Empire, honoured as a UNESCO World Heritage Site for its incredible mosaics. This excursion includes an exclusive lunch at the private Tenuta Manca di Geracello estate. Day 5 Campofelice di Roccella Enjoy a day at leisure or take an optional cruise to Lipari and Vulcano Island. Free time in Lipari allows you to visit at your leisure the attractive cathedral dedicated to Saint Bartholomew, the archaeological museum, or the impressive castle. We then continue to Vulcano where, as one of the two islands with active volcanoes in the area, you can see signs of past explosions at locations such as Vulcanello, where lava has created fantastic figures, and current activity from the smoke and sulphur fumes exuding from its crater. The fit and daring can choose to walk to the summit of the crater. The lowest point of the rim is just 290m up, yet offers fine views of the steaming crater and the island. Or you may want to visit the sulphur mud baths, considered to have medicinal benefits. Day 6 Campofelice di Roccella Spend today enjoying the local sights, or take an optional guided excursion to visit the Valley of the Temples in Agrigento, the incredible site of the ruined ancient Greek city of Akragas. In creating one of the leading cities in the Mediterranean, the Greeks built an abundance of magnificent temples which exemplify Greek architecture. The UNESCO-protected area includes the incredibly well-preserved Temple of Concordia, considered the most impressive Greek Doric temple in existence today; the ruins of the Temple of Olympian Zeus, the largest Doric temple ever built; and the remains of the Temple of Heracles, dating from the 6th century BC. Day 7 Campofelice di Roccella Your final day in Sicily is free for you to do as you please. Maybe make the journey into Cefalù and take a stroll along the beautiful coast or experience the local heritage. Or relax by the hotel’s private beach or swimming pool. Day 8 Campofelice di Roccella - Palermo - London We transfer to the airport for a direct, scheduled British Airways or easyJet flight to London Heathrow. On arrival you will be met and guided to your Titan vehicle, for the journey home.
