What's this trip about?

Two Brothers Surf Resort is located on a large private estate comprised of coastal hills that stretch out toward the Pacific and plunge toward fertile green valleys still used for ranching. According to local villagers, this land was used for years to grow “frijoles” or beans, a constant staple of the Nicaraguan diet. Today, Two Brothers is home to the Gregory family, their chocolate lab, a small stable of gentle horses, several blue-headed parrots, small wild fox, large green iguanas, curious porcupines, chirping geckos, toads the size of footballs, moths the size of birds, and exotic rhinoceros beetles that dwarf your hand. An eco adventure at your doorstep!

Travel Map
The best surf season in Nicaragua is March through November when they receive the largest and most consistent southern swells. The waves tend to be fast and hollow. Wave heights during this time average shoulder to overhead, but are often double overhead or larger at some breaks. November is one of the best months to visit with great weather, strong swells and fewer travelers. Although larger swells hit form time to time, from December to February stronger off shore winds tend to create waist to shoulder high surf and upwelling can produce slightly cooler water temperatures. There are offshore winds just about every day all day except for the month of October. November and December are pleasant months in Nicaragua with everything lush and green. With light offshore winds, swells can be from head high to triple overhead just about any month of the year. The surf is typically shoulder to head high. There are 12+ quality breaks in the area and there is usually something fun for most skill levels. With the exception of powerful, “overhead plus swells and “pros only” days at the Outer Reef, most surfers ride their “everyday” board and bring a back-up that is a little bigger just in case. However, Two Brothers has a large selection of rental boards at your disposal should you decide not to hassle with board fees or packing your own. This is truly a ‘land of plenty’ where waves are pumping and the winds are offshore 90% of the time. The air temperature is warm year round, making for a tropical adventure in an endless summer. Accommodation

Situated in the center of Popoyo where guests have easy access to well over a dozen surf spots that break year round, Two Brothers Surf Resort, is stoked to receive worldwide recognition in articles published in the New York Times Style Magazine and the Wall Street Journal Magazine. Frommers travel guide lists Two Brothers as a Top Luxury Hotel in Nicaragua and Moon Travel gives them their highest recommendation of 5 stars. Not bad for an intimate family run surf camp in a rural Nicaraguan beach town!

Two Brothers strives to provide unique, design inspired accommodations for surfers, travelers, and families seeking adventure without sacrificing luxury, security, or comfort. We currently offer four private villas featuring handcrafted décor and artifacts collected from our years of surf travels all over the world.

Every villa was built using traditional materials by local Nicaraguan craftsmen. Each unique villa is clean, spacious and comfortable while offering unparalleled views to the waves, ocean, and dry tropical forests that surround the resort. At the very peak of this lush hilltop property you will find the main house, dining quarters and special board storage room.

VILLA SERENA

When you pass through the gates of the property the first villa that you find as you climb the hill is Villa Serena. This villa contains a king bed separated from a twin bed and sitting area by a dividing wall. The artistic tile work in the living area and en-suite bathroom are a common theme throughout the resort. The living area is designed with a small kitchenette and mini-fridge should you want to keep some snacks and beverages close by. Relax on the large private deck with beautiful views of the Pacific to the front and gaze to the interior valleys and volcanoes from the back porch. Villa Serena and Villa Bohemia share a garden area that is home to fig and citrus trees, antique ox-carts and a sculptural outdoor shower that is a favorite of most guests. You may never want to shower indoors again!

VILLA BOHEMIA

Villa Bohemia is a two room villa with a queen bed, two twins and seating area in one room with two twin beds in a second room sharing one large en-suite bathroom. The lounge area is equipped with a small kitchen and mini-fridge to keep beverages and snacks close at hand. The large shaded deck provides an excellent location to relax after a day full of surf and activities with spectacular views both day and night. This villa shares a lush tropical garden area with Villa Serena.

VILLA FAMILIA

The largest of all the villas on the property, the enchanting Villa Familia includes it’s own private garden area and nesting colony of Motmot birds, (national bird of Nicaragua). This two bedroom villa contains a full size refrigerator, a separate living area and a private shared bathroom. One bedroom is laid out with a king bed plus two twin beds, with the second bedroom having another two twin beds. The separate living area has space to lounge in addition to the generous kitchen area and large covered patio.

EL RANCHO

El Rancho is a traditional round shape and flanked by the massive bougainvillea that climb up the walls surrounding the pool area. This is a large one room villa with an open floor plan consisting of a queen bed and three twin beds. This is the only villa with a detached outside garden bathroom; but don’t worry there is plenty of privacy and it is covered to protect from the sun or occasional rainfall. There is a lovely shaded deck area to relax, read or just enjoy the view with a cold beer from the mini-fridge.
