What travelers are saying

"I have travelled with ROW numerous times, including four trips on the Rogue River. Every trip has been wonderful and every person associated with ROW has been nice, knowledgeable, professional and fun. The Rogue is a great river and the trip is an excellent one for two people or a large group—and I have done both. I’ve taken both of my kids, one time each, and have organized groups of colleagues twice; most recently in 2019 when 14 of us gathered. The guides at ROW are great and help to make the trip very enjoyable. The scenery, lodging and the wonderful outdoors including warm air and refreshing water, make for a wonderful escape from the everyday routine. The fact that this trip offers beds and indoor plumbing is a nice benefit and allows those who have an aversion to camping a chance to see the wilderness. I have recommended ROW and the Rogue trip more times than I can count and my group has already reserved our trip for 2021. What are you waiting for?"

Highlights

  • Our unique Oregon rafting on the Rogue River include lodge-based trips that give you the best of both worlds - outdoor rafting fun during the day and comfort of a lodge at night.
  • The rapids on this river make a perfect rafting adventure for your family.
  • The Rogue River was named by French fur trappers who arrived here in the early 1820’s and had skirmishes with the local Indians of the area. The French called these people “les Coquins” which means “the Rogues” and named the river “La Riviere aux Coquins,” the Rogue River.
  • Our trips flow through the most remote and scenic canyons of the Rogue River where the surrounding forest is brimming with wildlife, watching your every move as you cascade down the river.
  • The variety of conifer and hardwood tree species, as well as evergreen shrubs in the Rogue River canyon is impressive.

Highlights

  • Explore through Our Grande Ronde kayaking adventure travels some 36 miles through a wilderness of pine-studded canyons, on waters protected as part of the National Wild & Scenic Rivers Act. Towering mountains and formations of volcanic rock from the Columbia Basalt flows make for a dramatic setting.
  • Experience Kayak as every participant on this trip is furnished with an inflatable kayak about 11-feet in length. These are stable and fairly easy to maneuver, making them an ideal platform for learning how to run white water rivers on this kayaking adventure. Each day of adventure we paddle about 10 miles on fast-flowing water, getting instruction from your guides along the way.
  • We are sure to leave plenty of time to stop and hike to vistas of the Blue Mountains and the canyons of the river. We make camp by the river’s edge each evening. On the kayaking adventure we may see Rocky Mountain big horn sheep, elk, mule deer and coyote. If river levels allow, we’ll spend our third day as a “layover day” and take a longer hike into the mountains, returning to our same camp mid-afternoon.
  • Unlike other ROW Adventures’ trips, which lean towards the luxury end of service and camping, on this self-support kayaking trip everyone carries their own overnight bag in their kayak and chips in to set up camp. Meals are ROW’s standard five-course camp gourmet fare and participants who wish may learn how to do Dutch oven cooking alongside the guides. Those who choose to do so will learn how to bake salmon with a huckleberry and maple syrup glaze, prepare awesome camp lasagna, cook a variety of cakes and on the final night, prepare a prime rib!
  • Our adventure guides will also demonstrate packing and rigging techniques for those interested. For those that want to learn the basic skills for organizing a self-support kayaking trip, this is the perfect introduction!
