"When I signed up for the Wonders of Costa Rica at a slower pace. The hotel listed in the itinerary for day 8&9 was a 4 star hotel on the beach called the Punta Leona. I'm not sure when but Road Scholar changed the Punta Leona hotel for the 3 star Villa Lapis Jungle hotel. I was shocked when we drove up to this dump. Others in the group wanted to leave and find another hotel. I had black bugs under that shower mat and the shower did not drain, Spiders on the wall and roaches coming out of the cracked in the bathroom. The bed was a thin mattress on a board and was hard as a rock. The food they put out was covered with a wrap but 15 minutes after the plastic wrap was removed it was covered with fruit flies. I passed on the open food bowls. The walls were real thin and the neighbors were real noisy until 11:30 pm. Others in the group complained about the late night noise, spiders and toilet seat being broken. I'm not sure where this place gets 3 stars. After I saw the roaches, I give it a 1 star. Road Scholar put us up in beautiful hotels and then they take us here. You can do better than this Road Scholar. The end the story, Road Scholar customer service called me about my concern and said they have never used the Punta Leona, (I sent her my itinerary that said PUNTA LEONA). She also said they haven't had any complaints about this Villa Lapis dump. After her call, I'm not sure if I'll ever travel with Road Scholar again. Enough said...."

"I made a reservation last Thursday (11/16/2023) for a trip to Iceland from 12/02/2023-12/07/2023 and then I was told that I can’t have my refund back. When I called on last Thursday (11/16/2023) to place my reservation, the agent (Kathy) I talked to stressed about she "cannot" guarantee that I will be able to go on the trip. Before I provided the payment information, I specifically asked if I will be able to get the refund because the trip is coming up so soon. The agent ensured that I will be able to get a full refund back within 60 days if I decided to cancel the trip. I was also told that I am basically on a wait list and someone will contact me once I can go on the trip. No one contacted me about whether the agency was able to process my information at all, so I've been left in the dark about this trip since the beginning. I called the help line this morning (11/20/2023) around 9:00 Eastern Standard Time to cancel my reservation. I was informed by the agent that I will not be able to get my full refund back since it's too close to the trip date. Basically I was told that Kathy gave me the wrong information, so I will have to pay the cancellation fee. The only reason I provided my payment information is because Kathy specifically stated that I will be able to cancel the trip and receive a full refund. I've never been so frustrated with a traveling agency. I made sure to ask this agent regarding the refund policy twice before giving her my payment information, and she still couldn't provide me with the correct information. It's unbelievable that such a big traveling agency cannot uniformly train their employees with the correct set of information."

"I did the 4 days Inca Trek with Trexperience and it was an amazing experience! Our guide, Charly, was very nice company and he told us many things on the way about different Inca sites, the nature and its animals and flowers und peruvian and Inca Culture in general. The night before the trip, Charly came to our place for a briefing about the upcoming hike and about all the things we should or shouldn't take, so we felt very well prepared. The next morning we were picked up at the Hotel and drove with a minivan to the starting point of the tour. On the way we visted a little school, that now can afford some computers with internet connection that because they are supported bei Trexperience, which was very nice to see! When the hike started it was a great journey. The breathtaking scenery during the hike was absolute worth the challenging walk. We were perfectly supported by the Trexperience crew of porters and a cook. They provided absolutey everything we needed and more. The food was absolutey stunning and I wouldn't have thought these were meals cooked on a mountain without a proper kitchen. The service of the porters, the cook and the guide was absolutely worth the price, the work they do really is incredible. For that reason I was very happy to see, that Trexperience is a company which cares for their porters and provided equipment for them and treats them well - unfortunately not every company we saw on the way did this... All in all I can absolutely recommend Trexperience for the Inca Trail in Peru and in general I can recommend the Inca Trail, it is an unforgettable amazing experience!
