What travelers are saying

"I booked a trip using travelstride with G Adventure, 2 days before my planned travel date, I got an email from Travelstride that there was an error in the price and I have to pay an extra 370$, otherwise I can get a refund. Because it was only 2 days from my planned travel date, I couldn't argue or change my plan and I had to pay the extra money. When I met the group I was surprised to know that what I originaly paid without the extra 370$ was already 400$ more that what others had paid for the same trip. In addition to that my room mate didn't maintain any hygiene standards in the room and didn't even respond to greeting. When I told G Adventure about it, they said that I need to communicate with him and open my heart and they can't do anything about it!!!! So please don't book with them and if you happen to book with them, then please ensure that you are paying half the advertised price."

What travelers are saying

"Who said you can not enjoy a long Overland Safari? I had a wonderful time during the 7 month Trans Africa. Part of the West cost of Africa was a challenge which I will remember for a long time. The scenery and wildlife from Namibia onwards was breathtaking. The younger generation on the truck gave me the challenge to do things I always was to scared to do in my live. I did tandem skydiving, quad bike riding in the sand dunes, white water rafting on the Zambezi river, bungy jumping of the Victoria Bridge and the micro light flight over the Victoria Falls. Our driver Brian was excellent and a good mate. All in all I can recommend the tour to people who like something more exciting than a standard organised tour. A truly memorable experience of a lifetime."

What travelers are saying

"73 days from Nairobi, Kenya to Cape Town, South Africa, Jan through Mar Do you enjoy people not following rules that affect you directly? Disregard of 10pm curfew, smoking and noise restrictions, or environmental welfare? Recurring theft of your well-marked belongings (food, drinks, power cords, etc.)? Repeat damages to your stuff due to negligence (sleeping bag, backpacks, etc.)? Incessant juvenile jokes about farts, vomit, drunkenness, burps, sex, or making fun of others? Constant loud music rather than enjoyment of nature? Purposeful ignoring of guide’s requests to the extent that it may endanger you… Person buying drugs in broad daylight and near cop – you could be made guilty by association Person drinking while driving, guilty by association if open container found by authorities Lack of food because some people abuse how much they take or stash away Waiting for the people who are not prepared, not following the schedule or could care less that they are enjoying themselves while you WAIT – hey you paid the same price, but they enjoy while you WAIT People not sharing the workload saying they have more important things to do like washing hair, downloading pictures, making phone calls. Once again you paid the same price, but they enjoy while you WORK People who make you miss optional events you sign up for because they came back too late or crossed your name out of events you have signed up for replacing it with their own? People claiming that they don’t have money to give tips (the way many survive in Africa) while they carry thousands of dollars of equipment, have money for drinks every night, buy drugs, give each other’s birthday gifts, etc. Embarrassing to be associated with these uncaring people. What bad reputation! People pushing elder of a village out of the way to take picture? Others entering locals’ homes without asking? Clearly invading their privacy, acting as if these people don’t matter. People refusing to share tents, storage areas, workload, space to take pictures, etc. The me, me, me syndrome leading to people being hurt due to pushing to be there first, etc. Most of this could have been address by the guide but he chose not to be involved so it festered for 73 days, making the bullies get all they wanted and the non-bullies, second citizens – incredibly sad. THANKFULLY, Africa, its people and nature are AMAZING, and you push that aside long enough to enjoy it until you return to the bus and face the sad reality of your tour cohorts. Overall, this felt like a race to the bottom or the lowest common denominator instead of an uplifting experience."

Highlights

  • Visit the Nile squeezes through an 8m wide gorge and plunges with a thunderous roar into the "Devil's Cauldron", creating a trademark rainbow
  • The northern section of the park contains savanna and borassus palms, acacia trees and riverine woodland. The south is dominated by woodland and forest patches
  • Notable visitors to the park include Winston Churchill, Theodore Roosevelt, Ernest Hemingway and several British royals.
  • Explore Murchison Falls is Uganda's largest protected area covering 5072km2 . This contains the Murchison Falls National Park (3893km2) and the adjoining Bugungu (501km2) and Karuma (678km2) wildlife reserves. Murchison National Park is one of Uganda's oldest protected areas. It's conservation history dates back to 1926 when the area was known as the Gulu and Bunyoro Game Reserve. This reserve became Murchison Falls National Park in 1952 (one of the country's two national parks, with the other being Queen Elizabeth National Park).
  • Visit Kibale Forest is a lush tropical rainforest, believed to have the highest density of primates in Africa. This 795-sq-km national park is home to 13 primate species, including the rare red colobus and L’Hoest’s monkey. Chimpanzees can be heard throughout the forest, three groups of which have been habituated to human contact.
