Itinerary
Today you begin your journey by boarding your international outbound flight to Lima.
On arriving in Lima, catch a connecting flight to Puerto Maldonado, the gateway to the Southern Amazon. The flight lasts around an hour and a half. You're met at the airport by a representative from your lodge and board a motorised canoe with a small group of other gu...
Over the next few days explore the rainforest with your lodge guides. The exact order of activities and trips may vary. Today, for example, you might walk one of the trails around the lodge, identifying vegetation such as bread fruit trees and rubber trees. After lunch and some downtime, at dusk you could take a canoe trip on the river, looking for nocturnal wildlife.
This morning you may canoe on the nearby oxbow Sandoval Lake, learning about its formation, vegetation and wildlife, which includes blue and yellow macaws, and red howler monkeys. In the afternoon, walk on the Inkaterra Canopy Walkway and learn about its conservation work. In the evening, head out on a night walk to spot wildlife emerging at dusk.
Travel back to Puerto Maldonado's airport by shared transfer and fly to Cuzco. On arrival, you're met and transferred to your hotel in the historic former capital of the Inca Empire. We suggest spending the rest of the day relaxing, perhaps taking short walks and getting used to the altitude.
This morning you're picked up from your hotel by your driver and guide for a private half-day tour of Cuzco and several nearby Inca sites. Visit a former Temple of the Sun, and head out of the city to explore ruins such as Tambo Machay, an Inca fountain, and Quenqo Te...
Travel by road out of Cuzco with your private guide and driver and enter the Sacred Valley of the Incas. Here, enjoy a private guided tour of key sights such as the Pisac market and terraces, and the fortress town of Ollantaytambo which offers impressive views out across a mountainous valley. Stay the night in a hotel in the Sacred Valley.
Take the train to Machu Picchu, accompanied by your guide. This journey follows the rushing Urubamba River and it's a good way to see Peruvian and Andes scenery. You arrive at the site in the afternoon and take a private tour of the ruins with your guide. They show yo...
This morning you have the opportunity to explore Machu Picchu again at your own leisure. We recommend arriving early to explore the ruins in the morning, when the light falling over the stones can give the site a real aura of mystery. You might like to walk the short ...
Today you will travel across the stunning countryside to Puno on the shore of Lake Titicaca. It is a long but beautiful journey.
Spend the final full day of the trip visiting the Uros islands and the Llachon community who live there.
Travel by private transfer to Puno's airport in time for your flight to Lima, which takes just over one and a half hours. Then connect with your international flight home.
Arrive home today to complete your journey.
