Crossing the Drake Passage.
Come to the end of the Drake Passage and start to spot the first icebergs as you approach the South Shetland Islands and the Antarctic Peninsula.
Shore landings and excursions on the Antarctic Peninsula and nearby islands such as Peterman, Livingston and Deception. There will generally be two excursions per day.
Today your vessel may visit Deception Island, a horseshoe-shaped volcanic caldera that is part of the South Shetland Islands. After squeezing through Neptune's Bellows, a narrow gap in the rocks, you might go ashore to explore an abandoned research station. If a shore landing is possible, today might see you walking and sitting among a penguin colony. Species include chinstraps and gentoos, and you'll be surprised at the cacophony they make. It's also possible to view some colonies from on board your vessel.
