Accommodation
Satao Camp.
Nestled amongst trees and surrounding a central waterhole, the semi-circular layout of the camp provides an excellent viewing point for each of our guests. Satao Camp has 20 tents, all en-suite, thoughtfully positioned to ensure a full view of the camps watering hole. The 20 tents are made up of 16 family tents and 4 suites each tent is constructed of sisal and boroti poles topped with a makuti roof, only the front of the tent is visible as each tent has its own patio with table and chairs. The shower however is in the true African style, whereby the camp staff bring hot water in the evening. The bathrooms are very spacious, slate floors with stunning wooden framework, the wash basins sunken into the structure, all fitted with flushing toilet. Tsavo East National Park is one of Kenya’s oldest and largest National Parks: covering approx. 40% of the total area of all Kenya’s National Parks. Famous and home to some of the largest herds of elephant in Kenya, the elephants glow red after dust baths, blowing the vivid red dust through their trunks over their bodies, large prides of lion are sighted regularly and another great sight is the spectacular herds of up to 1,000 buffalo.
Severin Safari Camp.
Being very close to the wonderful Kenyan nature, experiencing dawn and dusk with its astounding array of colours, listening to the voices of the wilderness, being one with yourself – the Severin Safari Camp offers all that and much more. In the heart of Tsavo West National Park we have created a place which reflects our deep bond with this country. In the camp amidst the African wilderness, our guests will experience a unique combination of adventure, recreation and wellness, a very individual service and culinary delicacies. The Camp is constructed in an elegant natural design. The tents and suites are designed with wooden furniture in a traditional African style. Light and warm colours make for a cozy, familiar atmosphere. Each of the 27 tents and suites offer the view over the beautiful African landscape with its wild animals which all come to use the water holes without constraint both during the day and night.
Satao Elerai.
The camp offers 12 tents and 5 suites. Each tent has its own en-suite bathroom with solar hot showers and a toilet with a view. Raised cedar wood floors, acacia poles and makuti (thatch) roofing complement the surrounding environment. Large balconies with relaxing day beds combine to offer the perfect place to lie as you take in the ambiance when relaxing. The elegantly furnished suite rooms have large sliding doors that open out onto your own private verandah overlooking the plains below and Amboseli National Park. Elephants, giraffe’s and zebra are seen most days from the comfort of your room. Designed using natural rock and acacia wood, the bathrooms have their own naturally crafted bathtub and shower which is unique to Elerai. The Satao Elerai project is a community based project between the camp, the African Wildlife Foundation and the local Elerai community. The concept is to provide a sustainable income from tourism for the Masai people in the area, and ensure that the wildlife is protected for generations to come. The project can over time ensure that both the communities and wildlife benefit.

Each tent is en-suite, set on a beautiful wooden platform with a spacious veranda. On the cushion daybeds one can enjoy an afternoon siesta, taking in the wonderful surroundings. furnished with a large comfortable bed, Persian rugs, cozy armchair and minibar with chilled drinks gives you the ultimate in camping luxury. The private bathroom has a flush toilet, twin wash hand basins and a romantic outdoor shower. The water is heated by gas burners to avoid any use of firewood and thus conserving the Mara Woodlands. Electricity is provided in all tents 24 hours a day by solar. Tents can be configured for either double or twin occupancy, and with prior arrangement a third or fourth bed can be added for children below the age of 12 years. A family unit is also available that consists of two tents with a shared veranda.
