Travel insurance is compulsory on all our trips for those travelling internationally. We require that at a minimum you are covered for medical expenses including emergency repatriation. If you are travelling within your home country or region please confirm before travel that you are entitled to access the public medical system easily should an accident occur. We strongly recommend all travellers have a policy that also covers personal liability, cancellation, curtailment and loss of luggage or personal effects. For international trips, you will not be permitted to join the group until evidence of travel insurance and the insurance company's 24-hour emergency contact number has been sighted by your group leader or local representative. If you have credit card insurance your group leader or local representative will require details of the participating insurer/underwriter, the level of coverage, policy number, and emergency contact number rather than the bank's name and your credit card details. Please contact your bank for these details prior to arriving in-country. For travellers who reside within the European Union, Switzerland or USA the requirement to purchase travel insurance cannot be compulsory. However the purchase of travel insurance is still highly recommended, and travellers from these regions who decline travel insurance when travelling outside of their home region must sign a Travel Insurance Waiver Form at the Group Meeting, recognizing personal responsibility for emergency medical and repatriation costs should they arise. PASSPORT You’ll need a valid passport to travel internationally and most countries require your passport to have a minimum of 6 months validity, so remember to check the expiry date. We need your passport information to get everything ready for your trip so it’s important that the information on your booking matches your passport exactly. Please take care to provide the correct details. We recommend carrying a copy of the photo page of your passport while travelling and leaving a copy at home with family or friends. VISAS & ENTRY REQUIREMENTS Many countries require a visa and obtaining the correct visa for your trip and any countries you may transit through is your responsibility. We recommend you check your visa requirements as soon as you have booked your trip. This will ensure you have time to prepare your documents and for your visa application to be processed. It allows for travel between Kenya, Uganda & Rwanda with the same multiple-entry visa. The East Africa Tourist is valid for 90 days while travelling within these three countries. How you apply for your East Africa Tourist Visa depends on the country through which you enter East Africa: KENYA - Visit https://evisa.go.ke/services/EastAfricaTouristVisa RWANDA – Visit https://www.migration.gov.rw/visa-on-arrival UGANDA – Visit https://visas.immigration.go.ug/#/ Please contact the foreign Embassy of the country you will be entering for the most up-to-date information on the East Africa Tourist Visa requirements. Though we highly recommend getting an East Africa Tourist Visa for this tour, some travellers may decide to obtain separate visas: UGANDA VISA E-Visa The E-Visa can be obtained at https://visas.immigration.go.ug/. While most applications are approved within a week, we recommend allowing extra time to ensure you receive a visa before departure. However, we don’t recommend this as this could change without notice. If you do choose to get a visa on arrival, the cost is USD$50 cash. (Please note, Uganda only accepts USD bills dated 2006 or newer and in excellent condition). RWANDA: Visas are required for entry into Rwanda by all nationalities. Some nationalities are eligible for visa on arrival. The visa costs approximately USD30. For nationalities that need to be obtain a visa online in advance. The visa application process can be found at www.migration.gov.rw. The visa takes approximately 2-5 days to process. You must have a copy of this visa with you to present upon arrival. Supporting documentation may also be required - the embassy will contact you if they require these. If you require a visa, it is mandatory that you hold a Kenyan electronic visa (e-visa) prior to departure. Please visit - https://evisa.go.ke/ Single-entry visas allow for multiple entries into Kenya for a period of 90 days, provided you have not left East Africa. E-Visas can take at least 48 hours to process. Visitors will then be required to present their printed e-Visa upon entry to Kenya. If you are travelling on one of our itineraries that leaves and re-enters Kenya, you will need to take multiple copies of your e-Visa - one to present at each border crossing. TANZANIA: E-Visa An E-Visa can be obtained at https://visa.immigration.go.tz/. While most applications are approved within two weeks, we recommend allowing extra time to ensure you have received your visa before departure. Should you require a letter of invitation or list of hotel confirmations for your application, please contact your booking agent, and we will issue one tailored to your specific tour and departure. Visa on Arrival It is possible to obtain a single-entry tourist visa at any one of the following main entry points to Tanzania, subject to the fulfilment of all immigration and health requirements: Kilimanjaro International Airport (KIA) - (Day 14) Namanga Entry Point (Tanzania-Kenya border point) - (Day 14) Visas on arrival cost between $50 USD and $100 USD, depending on your passport nationality. Be prepared to pay with cash in US dollars in case connectivity issues make electronic transactions impossible.
