What's this trip about?

The trip starts with a few days in Rio de Janeiro. A private tour of the city includes visits to Corcovado Mountain, Sugarloaf Mountain, the Sambodromo (where Carnival takes place). Leisure time in Rio can be spent at the legendary beaches of Copacabana and Ipanema. The natural history experience then starts in Foz de Iguaçú, home to one of the most beautiful ecological reserves of the planet and where you find one of the most spectacular views of the world, the Iguaçú Falls. You will explore the falls on both the Brazilian and Argentinean sides. From Iguacu you will fly to Cuiaba and transfer to your Pantanal lodge. The Pantanal is the biggest marsh plain in the world and a natural habitat of rich fauna, home to 1000 bird species, 400 fish species, 300 mammalian species, 480 reptile species. Your days will be accompanied by expert naturalists as you explore the ecosystems on foot, by boat, on horseback and four-wheel-drive vehicle. Return to Cuiaba and fly to Manaus, gateway city to the Amazon rainforest. Transfer by boat up the Rio Negro River to your lodge from where you will spend your days (and some nights) on guided river and jungle excursions. Geographical diversity at its best: waterfalls, plains, jungles, flora and fauna.
