What's this trip about?

Join local expert Gustavo Cañas-Valle and one of our Naturalist Journeys guides to experience some of the natural and cultural highlights of this vibrant, diverse country of South America. Colombia has a rich cultural heritage and records the highest number of species of birds for any country in the world, just shy of 1900. To bring you a well-paced sampler of the region, as well as a great birding trip, Peg has teamed up with a guide working in association with Neblina Forest, the company Peg has worked with for so long in neighboring Ecuador. Colombia is twice the size of France, too large in scope and regions of biodiversity to sample everything in one trip. Starting from Cali, we will focus on the Eastern and Central Cordilleras of the Andes, two of Colombia’s three linear ranges. We pass through Buga as we continue up the valley, and the isolation of the two ranges from each other affords us an opportunity to see different species at a variety of locations. This area includes the heart of Colombia’s beautiful “Coffee Triangle”, and in this beautiful valley we hope to sample fine local coffee along the way.
