Itinerary

We meet at our tour hotel in Vienna and head out for a trip briefing and welcome dinner.
On our first ride we connect the two capital cities of Vienna (Austria) and Bratislava (Slovakia). A highlight of the 75 km route is cycling through the Danube Floodplain National Park, one of Europe’s largest untamed wetlands areas.
In Bratislava, we explore its history from the fall of Rome to the fall of the Iron Curtain on a leisurely bike tour through its diverse districts. Later, we’ll head to a local wine cellar for a private tasting of some regional specialties.
We cross from Slovakia into Hungary via a river island between the Danube and its tributaries. The Hungarian plains will welcome us for a pleasant ride through the countryside to reach the beautiful town of Győr. Reward your efforts with a visit to a beer garden!
We traverse the Transdanubian plains and its endless patchwork of farms and small Hungarian villages. Our ride concludes in a city shared by Hungary and Slovakia, with each situated on opposite sides of the Danube.
Cycling on bike paths straddling the Danube's wide banks we pass forests, farmlands and even an ancient Roman fort before arriving in Esztergom, home to Hungary’s largest Catholic basilica.
We ride the “Great Bend” of the Danube, one of the most scenic stretches along the entire valley, to reach Budapest. We end our bike tour with a farewell dinner in the Hungarian capital.
Our cycling tour has ended but we suggest you extend your stay another day or two to explore Budapest.
