What's this trip about?

The wild dog is Africa’s most enigmatic predator and so understandably is an irresistible lure for wildlife photographers. To experience a pack of wild dogs hunting is a memorable wildlife encounter and from a photographic perspective offers an exhilarating challenge. The wild dog sightings in the Laikipia Plateau are extraordinary and on our inaugural Wild Dog Photographic Safari in 2011, and in subsequent years, we were blessed with a number of thrilling encounters. Steve and Annabelle Carey have been working with the dogs in this area for many years and so on this trip, we are staying with them at Laikipia Wilderness Camp. We have deliberately chosen to travel in March as in previous years, the wild dogs have been active at this time with their sub-adult off spring.The Laikpia Plateau, overlooking the imperious Mt Kenya is not just a playground for wild dogs but is also home to elephant, giraffe, hippo, lion, leopard, cheetah, hyena, zebra, antelope, warthog and a plethora of beautiful birds. With Steve in charge of tracking and Albie Venter on hand to assist with photography, this trip promises to be another successful one.
