Itinerary

Day 1 London Tilbury Titan’s VIP door-to-door travel service collects you from home for your journey to London Tilbury, where our staff will greet you and assist with embarking Aegean Odyssey (4T) in preparation for an evening sailing. Days 2-3 At sea Enjoy onboard activities while at sea. Day 4 Lerwick, Shetland Islands Choose to step back in time on a walking tour through the colourful and cosmopolitan history of the port of Lerwick, and visit the Shetland Museum. Take a short drive through the town on your way to Scalloway to visit the now roofless, 400-year-old castle and the local museum, and view Norse heritage as you travel through Tingwall Valley, pausing to watch a group of Shetland ponies. Or visit the remarkable prehistoric archaeological site of Jarlshof, and look out for the famous ponies as you return to the ship. Day 5 At sea Day 6 Heimaey, Iceland Heimaey is the largest and only populated island in the Vestmannaeyjar archipelago, but its modest size makes a walking tour an ideal way to explore its rich history and natural beauty. Spend this afternoon on a walking tour across the lava fields of Eldfell, the 'mountain of fire', or visit the island's sheer cliffs and puffin colonies with opportunities to view the surrounding archipelagos, volcanoes and Heimaey’s Norwegian heritage. In 2019 you can circumnavigate the island by boat. Day 7 Reykjavik Relax in the healing, tranquil waters of the Blue Lagoon; or discover Reykjavik's culture on a sightseeing tour that includes the Árbær open-air museum and National Museum, which preserve ‘old Reykjavik’ from the time it was a pioneering settlement. Or, explore the Golden Circle Route, driving across ancient lava fields to Thingvellir National Park, the Gullfoss Waterfall and the vigorous Strokkur geyser (in 2019 this Golden Circle is an optional excursion only). Day 8 Isafjördur Choose a tour of Iceland’s isolated Westfjords for a comprehensive view of life and culture in the region, emphasising the human struggle to survive here with visits to the Bolungarvík and Ósvör Fisherman’s Hut and the Maritime Museum. Alternatively, take a boat trip to nearby Vigur Island (2018 only) to see an abundance of birdlife before stepping ashore to see relics from Vigur’s traditional farming past, including a 200-year old, eight-oared rowing boat, which is still being used to ferry sheep to the mainland today. Day 9 Akureyri Discover the picturesque coastline of Eyjafjörður Fjord, Goðafoss Waterfall, Lake Mývatn, the bubbling mud-pots and fumaroles of Námaskarð, and the dramatic landscape of Dimmuborgir, an inspiration for many Icelandic folktales. Day 10 Húsavik Húsavík is globally recognised as one of the best locations in the world to watch whales. After visiting the Húsavík Whale Museum, we take a boat trip with the hope of spotting various species of whales and dolphins. Day 11 At sea Day 12 Torshavn, Faroe Islands Visit the small capital of the Danish Faroe Islands, where parliamentary gatherings have taken place since AD 850. Visit the Historical Museum to learn more about the Faroes from Viking to modern times and walk amongst the iconic turf-roofed homes of the old town, Tinganes. Or you may like to experience life in the tiny village of Kirkjubour, where the imposing ruins of Saint Magnus Cathedral dominate the landscape of what was, during the Middle Ages, the island’s ecclesiastical and cultural centre. Day 13 Kirkwall, Scotland Discover Neolithic treasures, passing the Standing Stones of Stenness, to stop at the Ring of Brodgar - a huge ceremonial circle of stones dating back almost 5,000 years - before continuing to Skara Brae, the remarkably well-preserved village which was roughly occupied from 3180 BC to 2500 BC. You also have the opportunity to explore the smaller South Isles to visit the beautiful, hand-painted Italian Chapel, built by Italian prisoners of World War II, and take a tour of Highland Park, the world’s most northerly whisky distillery, and try a wee dram! Day 14 Rosyth Admire Scotland's capital with a tour of Edinburgh, with medieval buildings, statues and monuments that have incredible stories, including the magnificent Palace of Holyroodhouse, the official residence of Her Majesty the Queen, to the dominant 12th century castle perched atop its extinct volcano. Or visit glorious Stirling Castle, occupying its own 250-foot extinct volcano since the 15th century, when it was the principal residence for Scotland's monarchs. Day 15 At sea Day 16 London Disembark at Tower Bridge or London Tilbury. Upon arrival your Titan vehicle will be waiting for the journey home.
