Itinerary
A day of chill time and an opportunity to explore this fascinating city of 19 million. Our day also includes the perfect introduction to motorbiking in India: An early morning bicycle ride through old Delhi including breaks for masala chai and a breakfast of the most ...
We set off at first light to beat the heat and Delhi’s traffic rush. After leaving the morning chaos behind, we motor down National Highway 48 until we leave the main road and head south toward the millennium-old city of Alwar, its ancient fort hovering 300m above the...
A free day in the pink city of Jaipur, the capital of Rajasthan. Jaipur is known for its palaces, its jewelers and its liveliness. The city was built in 1727, by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II. One of the wealthiest cities of historic India, today Jaipur is a beautiful and vibrant confluence of modern and ancient Indian culture.
This day takes us on infinite small roads westward en route to Jodhpur, the blue city. Farmers and herds of camels punctuate our route as the desert begins to dominate the landscape. Our day concludes with dinner and two nights in a beautiful heritage palace.
Famous for the special coloring of its houses in the old city and the second largest city in Rajasthan after Jaipur, Jodhpur captivates. In the morning we will conduct a photo shoot at the massive fortress of Mehrangarh. After some free time exploring the fort, you will have ample hours to explore the maze of alleys and markets in Old Jodhpur.
Today includes a long ride deeper into the Thar Desert toward the Pakistani frontier. Staying off the main roads, we will pass camel and goat herders corralling their livestock between grazing lands. At the end of the day, we reach the ancient desert outpost of Jaisalmer, its impermeable fort dominating the desert horizon.
A free day of exploration in the fort of Jaisalmer. No place better evokes exotic camel-train trade routes and desert mystery. An early morning rickshaw ride up to the fort and the city that resides within teleports you to the middle ages. Narrow lanes, stunning looko...
After breakfast with our camel-herder host, we once again mount our trusty Enfields and turn eastward through the sandy landscapes, towards Bikaner, a dusty border town with a beautiful fort of its own.
Bikaner is less dominated by tourism than other Rajasthan cities and encourages you to explore unencumbered though its old city. Shopping for textiles and handicrafts, getting a haircut and shave in an outdoor stall or enjoying a massage is a great way to spend an afternoon.
Not on any tourist route and not even well known by most Delhiites, Mandawa and its surrounding towns burst with the magical site of ancient havelis, beautifully frescoed townhouses and mansions in various states of degradation and begging for loving investment rupees.
A final free day on the road to explore the beautiful architecture that this forgotten part of the world has to offer, or to lounge by the pool in one of India’s most stunningly beautiful hotels.
A final leg back to the beehive of Delhi for a big meal and rounds of drinks to celebrate the completion of one of the richest experiences imaginable. We close out with a de-brief session, a screening of some of the most beautiful imagery captured by our Media Team and a free day to unwind before heading back to the default world.
