"We just got back from our 11 day Safari trip ALL PLANNED by Rothschild! We were celebrating my 50th birthday and I’ve always wanted to go on a safari. I researched many companies and after speaking many times with Pam Langhoff we decided upon choosing Rothschild to put together our safari trip. Best decision!!! Rothschild made all the arrangements and thought of every detail. I really had no clue about planning a safari. Pam planned everything! Every time someone was there to pick us up or take us to our next destination or see us off. Our guide and safari truck was arranged for us. All the park fees and registrations were already paid for and all the accommodations were booked and paid for and all details explained. Everything was timely and we had full communication with a contact in Africa (because of the time change 8 hours ahead if we needed anything). We even had them book our flights. They do everything and think of everything we had no idea we had to apply for a Tanzania visa.. This company is first class and takes care of every detail. We had no idea about planning and where to go. Pam put together an awesome tailored itinerary for us. We stayed 2 nights in Tarangire National Park in really really cool nice tents, then 3 nights at Gibbs Farm in the Ngorongoro Highlands and went to the crater, then flew to the Serengeti and stayed 3 nights at Serengeti Safari camp in mobile tents!! What an experience! We saw the great migration! I woke up in the Serengeti on my 50th birthday! Pam and Rachel and all the Rothschild staff were easy to work with and ask questions (trust me I had many) they planned a magical trip for my husband and 2 teenagers!! We all agree this was our favorite trip we have ever been on! We will use Rothschild again for sure!"

"An amazing Egypian Trip My mom and I had an amazing 10 day experience visiting the cities of Cairo, Luxor, Baharyia, and Aswan in Egypt. A friend recommended using Jakada Tours Egypt and connected me with Ahmed. As soon as I contacted Ahmed, I can see why he raved about him. He was professional, personable, responded to emails in a timely manner, provided a detailed itinerary, and helpful in every way possible from the beginning of the trip to taking us to the airport. We arrived in Cairo in the late evening, picked up visas, exchanged money, found Sherif our tour guide, and were on our way to the Cairo Pyramids Valley hotel where we stayed for 3 nights. The owner Ahmed checked us in, took us to the rooftop for Hibiscus tea, great conversation, and watched a light show projected on the pyramids. The hotel was nice, clean, had hot water, room was a decent size, served breakfast, had a great view of the pyramids, and was near lots of shops and restaurants. In Cairo, Sherif Khattab took us through the city explaining the culture, food, people, and the history of the Pyramids of Kings Cheops, Chephren, Menkaure, the Sphinx, Saqqara, the capital Memphis, Egyptian Museum, and a walking tour of the Khan el Khalili Bazaar. The open air museum and the pyramids were breathtaking. The process in which the pyramids were built and how it was structured was just unbelievable. Climbing the pyramid was a once in a lifetime experience. Learning how papyrus was made was an interesting process. Sherif introduced Falafel with eggplant in what we would call a pita bread and OMG it was delicious. As I tried it my mom gave me the side eye because she could never get me to try eggplant when she cooked it. Now I love it! We ate at local restaurants where they served different types of grilled meats and chicken, salad, falafel, and fresh fruit drinks. My favorite drink was the fresh mint lemonade. The food was delicious, hot, and filling. After a long day, we slept in an overnight sleeper train. I am so happy I Youtubed this experience so I would know what to expect. The bottom seat turns into a bed, the ladder for the top bunk is underneath, the trays to eat food hook into the sides of the train, the sink will be right at your stomach as soon as you stand up from sitting down, the radio doesn’t work, you will use a community bathroom, no showers, lighting is ok...just use your cell phone if you need to, no internet so don’t expect it, food was baked chicken, rice, vegetables, drinks, and desert. It was relaxing, clean, fun, and served its purpose. I repeat this is not a luxury train, it is only to get you to your next destination. In Luxor we met our new tour guide Ahmed and we hit the ground running. Ahmed was detail oriented, friendly, knowledgeable, professional, and personable. We visited the Valley of the Kings which comprised of: Rameses III & IV Merenptah, and the Tomb of Tut Ankh Amun which was one of my favorites. To see the original skull and feet...WOW! We were in awe of the colorful and creative artwork that told a story on the walls of every tomb and how well it’s preserved. The tombs are built underground into mountains which was shocking. The Temple of Hatshepsut displayed huge statues of Kings and Queens with the walls full of art work. The time and energy spent to sculpt these kings and queens is unimaginable. We began Christmas morning with a short boat ride with tea and snacks to take a ride on a hot air balloon. To see how the balloon inflates, to flying high in the sky, the breathless views, waving at the kids chasing the balloon as we passed through different areas, landing in patch of sugarcane, greeted by armed security, watching the process of how the balloon deflates and transported until our ride arrived. Visited the Karnak Temple Complex and ended the day with a relaxing boat ride in the Nile. The hotel was clean, had hot water, accessible to shops and restaurants on the street, and had a beautiful view of the Nile River. In Aswan we had the same tour guide and visited other temples such as King Ramses II and Queen Nefertari, Nubian monuments, and a Felucca ride around the islands of Aswan. To be in the land of the original Nubian people and learning the history was incredible eye-opening. Train ride back to Cairo. Our final attraction was the Bahariya Oasis White Desert and Black & White Desert Oasis which was picturesque with Sherif Khattab our first tour guide. The drive was relaxing and we ate lunch at the home of our desert tour guide. His wife prepared a delicious spread of chicken and vegetables. He was friendly and hospitable even though we spoke different languages we still understood each other. We did not do the overnight stay in the desert and glad we didn’t because the temperature dropped that night. Instead, we stayed at a hotel not too far away. The hotel was clean, had hot water, and the food was once again delicious. Overall, this trip was once in a lifetime. The tour exceeded my expectations, the information was invaluable, and Ahmad took great care of us. Other tidbits - the weather is cool in the morning but warms up by 11 and can get cold at night so make sure you layer up - if you sleep in the desert, just remember there is no bathrooms and it can get COLD - bring a bucket hat for the sun - bring tissues, wipes, hand sanitizer, snacks for the road/train trips - bring toilet paper (2 rolls) some bathrooms do not have toilet paper or people will try to charge you for it - do not allow anyone to do anything for you (ex: take pictures, ask directions, carry your bags through the train station, or assist you in any way) since a tip will be expected - do not feel pressured by store owners to buy anything - don’t be afraid to bargain and negotiate prices up front"

"I grew up in Arizona, and it seems like most of my childhood memories are outdoors. Our family vacations almost always featured the camper and hiking boots over hotel rooms and large crowds. We’ve always enjoyed the nature of Arizona (and California, where I live now) and thought it was one of the best reasons to live here. My parents and I, and especially my Dad, have always talked about how amazing it would be to go on an African safari and see a whole new wilderness. My parents recently retired and decided it was high time to make that dream a reality. And I, despite being an adult with a child of my own now, somehow lucked into becoming their third wheel. First, a brief run-down of our trip: We arrived in Arusha and opted to stay a full day at the Arusha Coffee Lodge, which I highly recommend. It was nice to have a day to acclimate to the time (and weather) change before heading out, and it gave us a full day to take a tour of Arusha and spend some time shopping for souvenirs and Precious famous Tanzanite stone from Cultural Heritage store and we explore the city, meet with local people back to the Lodge. From there we took a short flight into the Serengeti right on the middle of the action and began our safari. We stayed three nights at the Olakira Ndutu Migration Camp, three nights at the Four-Season Serengeti Lodge, and two nights at the Sanctuary Ngorongoro Crater Camp in Ngorongoro. I would absolutely recommend any of these camps. The staff are all professional and courteous, the food is outstanding, and the accommodations are surprisingly comfortable, considering the remote locations. But honestly, we only stayed at the camps to eat, bathe, and sleep. Our guide, Laurence Mosha, gave us the option to depart at sunrise and we took him up on it every single day. The early morning light is spectacular, the temperature is much cooler, and the animals are active. I know it may be tempting to sleep in, but I definitely encourage the early morning drives. You can sleep at home! I’m a wedding photographer and work very hard at running my own business. It seems like we always have something on our calendar. I hadn’t spent a prolonged amount of time alone with my parents since finishing college (some undisclosed number of years ago). It was a privilege to take this vacation together as adults, and I can’t possibly think of a more beautiful location to do it in or better company to organize it than the expert Local Galloping Safaris and his team. We must come back to Tanzania again and our amazing, beautiful memories will last forever Asante sana!"

"Lora-Leigh Huskisson was our travel agent representing Siyabona Africa out of Cape Town. I started communicating with Lora-Leigh in Aug 2022. I wanted a comprehensive tour for around 4 weeks in April 2023 that had 6 adults and 2 children under 6. I had done a lot of internet research and almost knew what I wanted. Lora-Leigh augmented that by suggesting the best places to stay and recommended a great safari camp. We started our tour with Siyabona in Sun City but just prior to that we stayed at Ekuthuleni Lodge in the Welgevonden Private Game Reserve which friends of ours had already organized. Great private Safari Lodge, excellent day drives, wonderful food and fabulous staff. We had our grandchildren with us and thought before going to Victoria Falls we would break up the trip with a kids weekend at Sun City. They had a wonderful time with the pools/waterpark and the adults played golf. They also did a self-drive in the nearby game reserve. If you want to see the wildlife in SA with young children you need to break up the various safaris that you sign up for. We then went to Victoria falls via air organized by Lora-Leigh as were all the remaining tour flights. I should mention that all flights (and there were a few) went off without any difficulties other than the Tambo airport baggage handlers who seem to access your luggage without any recriminations. Victoria Falls was nice to see and the children enjoyed the mist, getting wet and the sound of the falls. Lora-Leigh booked the Victoria Falls Safari Lodge. It was a great choice. Its location is in viewing distance of a watering hole and everyday there were animals there. They also have a vulture feeding station. Once again the children enjoyed the staff, the food (especially the Dinner and Drum show at the Boma) the swimming pool and watching the animals. A good choice by Lora-Leigh. This was about enough for the young ones and that family of four left to return home but four of us continued on with the itinerary. Our next stop was on the Chobe Princess Safariboat in Namibia. I can't give Lora-Leigh all the credit for this choice as it was really my suggestion. However, the transportation to get to the boat was all down to her organization. The boat is literally across and upstream from the falls but you need to go through three border crossings to get there. Normally, this would appear to be difficult, and I think it generally is, but we had drivers who got us through it all, waiting on each side, waiting at the small boat to get us across the river, the walk up a long dirt road to Namibia immigration and eventually to the Safariboat. Was it worth it? You bet. The Safariboat doesn't really go that far up the river but it doesn't matter. This is a fabulous way to see wildlife in the morning, in the evening, and in most cases all day via the tenders that the Safariboat provides. The food was good, the refreshments were good, the staff and guides were great. The Chobe river is pretty pristine and provides a water related habitat to everyone - human and animal. It was hard to leave the Safariboat but we did, went to yet another airport for our flight to Kadizora Camp in the Okavango Delta. This should be easy, right. Not all planes in Botswana go to where they say they are going. Our flight stopped at another camp and we got off and got on another plane to Kadizora airstrip. Did we have to wait - no - the second plane was there waiting for us, ready to go. Walk 30 meters from one plane to the next. Luggage just walked to the next plane by the pilot. How good is that service? Kadizora Camp was exactly like Lora-Leigh said it would be like. We went out every day looking for animals and TwoBoy our guide found them every day. Not just the easy ones to find but lions, hyenas, crocodiles, hippos, wild dogs, etc. but no leopard although we kept trying but to no avail. Kadizora camp is in a great location on the delta and the delta is a must see in Botswana. So our group would like to say thank you to Lora-Leigh and Siyabona Africa for their service and their guidance. It was a great adventure."

"Trip with Backpackers Safaris is the best adventure in our lives. We saw all the animals we wanted and many more. Sharif is an encyclopedia of plants, birds and wild animals. His motto of Persistence Patience and Perseverance helped us finding our favorite cheetahs. One of them even jumped onto our vehicle and marked us as his territory. Though it was wet season, we didn't have any rain until the last day back to Arusha. Thank you, Backpackers Safaris."
