Itinerary
Today you begin your journey by boarding your international outbound flight to Rapid City. On arrival in Rapid City make your way to your accommodation and relax for the evening.
Collect your hire car this morning and drive through the beautiful forested Black Hills to Custer.
Start early today and visit Mount Rushmore and Crazy Horse national memorials. These iconic American monuments are easy to get to and at Crazy Horse there is also a great museum and native American art gallery.
Your drive today will see you cross over from South Dakota into Wyoming. You may wish to stop at Spearfish Canyon or the amazing rock outcrop known as Devil's Tower National Monument on the way. You will cross the vast rolling grasslands of central-north Wyoming where many ranches are found. Arrive in Sheridan where there is time to explore this interesting Western town.
Today you may wish to drive north to visit the site of the Battle of the Little Bighorn. Alternatively, cross the magnificent Bighorn Mountains on your way to Cody.
This morning you may wish to take a half day trip to see wild mustangs in the Bighorn Mountains. This afternoon there is time to explore this delightful town. Don't miss a visit to the fascinating Buffalo Bill Museum or the Cody Night Rodeo.
Today you skirt the northern edge of Custer National Forest then make your way in to Yellowstone National Park. You will pass magnificent scenery, and do keep a look out for wildlife; bison, elk and pronghorn antelope in particular are regularly seen.
Take an excellent private guided tour of northern Yellowstone. Here you'll get up-close and personal with the wildlife and also be shown the many hidden gems of iconic scenery you won't find on the maps.
Departing south this afternoon, you'll wind your way through the heart of Yellowstone to the famous Old Faithful geyser.
Enjoy the spectacular geothermal features which make this national park Wyoming's star attraction. Watch the geysers spout, the geothermal pools steam, the mud pits bubble and enjoy the casual roaming of the wildlife. It's worth taking some binoculars to watch out for bears and bison. Tonight you take a tour of the surrounding area.
Today you will leave Yellowstone National Park and travel south on the John D. Rockefeller Jr. Memorial Parkway to Grand Teton National Park, passing the beautiful Lake Jackson and the mighty peaks of the Teton Mountains on the way.
Join a sunrise small group expedition into Grand Teton National Park. This is a brilliant way to see the spectacular surroundings and learn about the wildlife that inhabits it.
Spend the day exploring the delightful small Western town of Jackson with its many excellent restaurants and galleries. Alternatively, visit the nearby National Elk Refuge or take part in some of the many outdoor activities such as hiking or white water rafting.
Return your car at the airport today as you board your onward flight.
Arrive home today to complete your journey.
