On this extended exploration of the Svalbard archipelago, there is ample time to enjoy the best of this magical region, a world of near-endless daylight, where polar bear sightings quicken your pulse, guillemot cries echo from towering cliffs, and beluga whales rise from the sea. With extra time for exploration, we hope to show you some of our favourite places in Svalbard, and perhaps discover some new ones. Unpredictable conditions are expected in wild and remote places such as Svalbard, and with extra time, we can slow the pace of the voyage, linger longer in quiet bays to enjoy wildlife encounters. Day 3 Explore Spitsbergen

Over the next twelve days, the Svalbard Archipelago is yours to explore. Our experienced expedition team, who have made countless journeys to this area, will use their expertise to design our voyage from day to day. This allows us to make best use of the prevailing we...

Day 4 Explore Spitsbergen

Phenomenal fjords, magnificent mountains ranges and a polar desert rich in fossils set the stage for heroic tales of early exploration. See walrus hauled-out on sea ice or on beaches. On land, stretch your legs on walks across tundra, dotted with brightly-coloured wil...

Day 5 Explore Spitsbergen

With more time than on our classic Svalbard voyages we plan to reach further afield, we will attempt to explore the two largest islands in the archipelago; Spitsbergen and Nordauslandet. We may enjoy the delights around Barentsoya and Edgeoya that are located in the Hinlopen Strait, a known polar bear migration route.

Meals Provided : Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

Day 6 Explore Spitsbergen

We plan to visit the remains of old whaling settlements, old pomor sites, and enjoy early morning Zodiac cruises. We will encounter glittering glaciers, keep watch for beluga whales and watch for ivory gulls.

Meals Provided : Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

Day 7 Explore Spitsbergen

We visit towering cliffs, noisy with nesting guillemot and puffin, and scree slopes that hold Svalbard's largest little auk colonies.

Meals Provided : Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

Day 8 Explore Spitsbergen

Most memorable are encounters with the majestic polar bear. We may encounter the mighty polar bear in its element, in the pack ice. Your expedition team is just as keen as you are to find them and we will be on constant watch to spot these magnificent creatures.

Meals Provided : Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

Day 9 Explore Spitsbergen

Rounding Spitsbergen's northwest coast, we enter the Arctic Ocean and the world of pack ice. Ghostly beluga whale rise up in open leads and polar bear stalk ringed, bearded and harp seal. Offshore, walrus feed on clam or haul out onto beaches, especially on Moffen Isl...

Day 10 Explore Spitsbergen

Weather and ice permitting we may sail along the most northerly point of the Svalbard archipelago, a favoured spot to a large colony of walruses.

Meals Provided : Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

Day 11 Explore Spitsbergen

During shore excursions, we hope to spot eider ducs, Arctic fox and the elusive Svalbard ptarmigan. As we pass Barentsoya and Edgeoya islands, we cross polar bear migration routes and hopefully have a chance to spot polar bear.

Meals Provided : Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

Day 12 Explore Spitsbergen

This is true expedition cruising, where plans are dictated by ice conditions and our desire to explore. If pack ice allows, we round South Cape, returning to the world of open water and rugged coastal mountains and sail north toward Hornsund and Bellsund, deep fjords with remarkable glaciers and wildlife.

Meals Provided : Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

Day 13 Explore Spitsbergen

If ice stops us on the east side, we will adjust our itinerary, backtrack and delve deeper into the wonders of Spitsbergen's north and west coasts, including a visit to colonies where hundreds of thousands of little auk nest, darkening the sky as they commute to their fishing grounds.

Meals Provided : Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

Day 14 Explore Spitsbergen

A midnight cruise of glorious Isfjorden returns us to Longyearbyen where we end our voyage.

Meals Provided : Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

Day 15 Arrive Longyearbyen. Trip ends in Oslo

You will disembark after breakfast. A transfer is included into town, where there is free time before heading to the airport for your charter flight to Oslo.

Meals Provided : Breakfast
