What's this trip about?

In 1982, Mountain Travel Sobek was one of the first American outfitters to operate safaris in  Botswana. Ever since, we’ve carefully honed our itineraries to work only with the country’s finest concessions, streamlining transportation time and covering more ground through the use of private charter flights. On our Botswana Flying Safari, you’ll take in the country’s most incredible parks and game reserves by mokoro and 4-wheel-drive vehicle: the Kalahari Desert, the Okavango Delta, and the Moremi and Linyanti Game Reserves! And after days tracking classic games, you’ll bask in the comforts of our exclusive, luxury tented camp—complete with your own attached bathroom and private verandas. No one does safaris like MTS. If you'd like to stay longer, we offer an amazing extension trip to Victoria Falls—one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World! Optional activities at Victoria Falls include strolling through lush, tropical vegetation, rafting on the Zambezi River, elephant-back safaris, microflights over the falls, bungee jumping, and more.

Accommodation

DumaTau Camp — Linyanti Concession

DumaTau, meaning ‘roar of the lion,’ is a luxury tented camp located in the private Linyanti Wildlife Reserve that borders the western boundary of Chobe National Park. The camp is situated close to the source of the Savute Channel on Osprey Lagoon, between two elephant 'corridors,’ and is raised off the ground to take advantage of the fantastic river views. Each en-suite tent is spacious, spreading out under a canvas roof, with clear-storey sliding doors and windows that allow for wide-angled views of the riverfront. There is an airy, expansive dining and lounge area and a pool, all overlooking the lagoon and its denizens. DumaTau has a very light carbon footprint and runs on solar energy.

Gomoti Tented Camp — Santawani Concession

Nestled under large Acacia trees in an area rich with diverse wildlife sits Gomoti Tented Camp, located in the center of the private 6,000-hectare Santawani Concession, in the south-east corner of the Okavango. This is glamping at its finest: five spacious, Savannah canvas tents are furnished with teak director's chairs, plush beds and inviting interiors designed to recreate the style of the early explorers. Private, en-suite bathrooms complete these luxury camping accommodations. Enjoy the view from your veranda during the day, or sit beside a crackling campfire in the evening. Fresh, sumptuous meals are served in the thatched dining area.

Kalahari Plains Camp — Central Kalahari Game Reserve, Botswana

Located in a remote part of the Central Kalahari Game Reserve, this camp offers some of the best summer wildlife viewing opportunities in Africa. Each Meru-style tent is raised off the ground to catch the breeze and offers its own viewing deck on the roof of the tent for sleeping under the stars. Common areas include a stylish lounge, communal dining area, swimming pool and deck.

Xigera Camp — Okavango Delta, Botswana

Xigera Camp (pronounced Keejera) lies on the aptly named Paradise Island, surrounded by deep channels and lush vegetation. There are ten raised luxury tents with en-suite facilities, an outdoor shower – and superb views of the classic Okavango Delta floodplains that surround the camp. Meals and evening drinks are enjoyed in the lounge, bar and dining area overlooking a permanently flowing channel or under the stars in a traditional African boma. For those hot days there is a small plunge pool in which to cool off.
