What's this trip about?

Southeast Alaska presents one of the most exciting nature and wildlife viewing opportunities in the world. Two of its largest protected habitats are Glacier Bay National Park, part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site and famous for marine wildlife and its stunning tidewater glaciers; and the Tongass National Forest, home to the largest population of bears in Southeast and the largest forest in the entire United States at 17 million acres! And while these places sound impressive (and they really are), it takes being there to understand the colossal proportions of the landscape. We have been pioneering adventure travel in “Southeast” since 1972, and our high ethics have set the standard for other companies

Tier Pricing

Adventure travel works best with a small group of people. In order to operate these small groups, our trips are priced according to the number of full-price passengers on the trip. (Mountain Travel Sobek staff, trip doctors, and other discounted travelers are excluded from the count for this purpose.) We initially invoice you at the highest tier level price (the smallest group size we can operate). If the price drops due to an increase in group size, you will be refunded the difference.

Prices may vary due to local taxes and trip seasonality. Click "Request Info" to inquire directly with the tour operator for the final trip price.

Check Current Availability, prices, specials with MT Sobek (Mountain Travel Sobek).

The total tour cost includes the tour price (regular or promotional) and the compulsory local payment. The promotional price is subject to change. Check directly with the operator for the latest price offer. The tour operator requires you to pay only the tour price to purchase your travel. The compulsory local payment will be paid when you join the trip. All prices are based on double, twin or triple share occupancy. Solo passengers will be accommodated in a double, twin or triple room according to availability with a passenger(s) of the same gender. Single supplement only needs to be paid if the passenger does not want to share and requests their own room. Discounts can only be applied at the time of booking and cannot be added at a later date, regardless of any changes made to the original booking.

Prices may vary due to local taxes and trip seasonality. Click "Request Info" to inquire directly with the tour operator for the final trip price.

Accommodation

Goldbelt Hotel — Juneau, AK

The Goldbelt Hotel in downtown Juneau may offer excellent access to all that's civilized in Alaska's capital city, but you're never far removed from what may trump civilization: the amazing natural backdrop. At seven stories high, the Goldbelt has prime views of Juneau's waterfront—which can be seen from each of the 104 handsome guest rooms. Complimentary shuttle service is available to/from the Juneau Airport, there is a gym on-site, and the hotel will soon be opening a bar and grill.

Gustavus Inn — Gustavus, Alaska

Gustavus Inn is a historic country inn located in in the spectacularly beautiful Glacier Bay National Park, where the Lesh family has been welcoming visitors to share their home, hearth and table for three generations. Comfortable new guest rooms have a queen and a twin bed with private batrooms. The two original homestead rooms boast ocean views, and share a hall bath. Guests gather around the dining table to share family-style meals of fruits and vegetables from the lovingly maintained garden, as well as Dungeness crab and salmon fresh from the Icy Strait.

Stickine Inn — Wrangell, AK

A community rich in gold rush and Native American history, Wrangell is is one of the oldest towns in Alaska. Located near the mouth of the Stikine River,  this area provides hiking, fishing and wildlife viewing enthusiasts with numerous opportunities to get up close and personal with nature. The Stikine Inn features  newly remodeled rooms with comfortable mattresses, expanded cable and HBO, in-room coffee makers, and some of the best views of any lodging on Wrangell Island. The onsite seasonal restaurant, which is referred to by the locals as “The Stik,” serves burgers that are famous throughout SE Alaska, hand-cut steaks and slow cooked prime rib, and delicious fish and chips made with halibut sourced from local fisherman.
